A Son's Tribute

Josh Romney tweeted, defending his mother from the attacks of Obama adviser Hilary Rosen.  His words:

@AnnDRomney is one of the smartest hardest working woman [sic] I know Could have done anything with her life, chose to raise me"

The Obama administration (whose spokesman refuses to condemn the attack on stay-at-home moms) should be ashamed.  They're not just attacking today's stay-at-home moms, they're attackIng all of our moms who stayed home to raise us, too (and believe me, there was nothing lazy about the way my mother raised me!  I miss her every day).

Let's be clear: No one in the GOP is condemning women who work, and everybody understands that, for some, it's a necessity (the GOP is, obviously, the party that initiated efforts to introduce work requirements into the welfare system).  That being so, why can't the Democrats -- who love to present themselves as the pro-woman party -- afford women and their choices the same respect?

It's hard to escape the conclusion that the Democrats have room (and respect) for only certain women, who make certain (liberal-approved) choices.  In the GOP, we believe that women should have the right to decide whether to work for a paycheck or work at home . . . and there's no one who's going to mock or disrespect their efforts to find a solution that works best for them and their families, given each individual family's unique needs and convictions.

As for President Obama's insulting assertion that he and his wife didn't have the "luxury" of her staying home to raise their children, I'd only refer to my earlier post, which points out that for some families, a stay-at-home mom isn't a "luxury" -- it's a necessity, and they make financial and other sacrifices accordingly.
