An Entirely Predictable Curiosity

he Washington Post runs an op/ed calling for Mitt Romney to release his tax returns, but admitting there is no legal requirement for him to do so.

Can anyone recall the Post calling for President Obama to release anything during his last presidential run -- like his transcripts from Occidental College?  Or showing even a scintilla of curiosity about his life and associations, including his admitted use of cocaine?

Nor, as I remember, did Bill Clinton ever release his health records; President Obama, when campaigning, released only a summary of his.  Although John Kerry released his tax records, he carefully ensured that they were separately filed from those of his very rich wife, with nary a whimper from the press or the left. ( Perhaps Mitt Romney's mistake was earning his own money, rather than marrying it?)

In short, there are plenty of matters of legitimate public concern to which candidates choose not to respond, for reasons of their own.  And, for the most part, they get away with it (at least if they're Democrats.)

Does anyone seriously wonder why The Post is targeting Romney's tax returns?
