The Obama Slaughter

If I were a Democrat partisan, this news from a The New York Times report by Jim Rutenberg (based on the latest CBS/NYT poll) would have me wanting to open a vein, figuratively:

Republicans have wiped out the advantage held by Democrats in recent election cycles among women, Roman Catholics, less affluent Americans and independents.
. . .
If women choose Republicans over Democrats in House races on Tuesday, it will be the first time they have done so since exit polls began tracking the breakdown in 1982.

Well, I guess President Obama has kept one of his campaign promises -- he really is uniting the country.  Against him and his policies, that is.

There is no doubt that people are afraid and angry about the economy.  There's no doubt that they hate ObamaCare.  But what is adding the last bit of hardened commitment to opposing Democrats is their arrogance and unresponsiveness to their constituents -- who tried, repeatedly, to signal how unhappy they were with the country's direction, only to be treated with contempt.

It strikes me that a lot of Americans realize that if we let this Congress (and President) do what they did -- ignore and dismiss us -- without rebuke, the future of freedom is dim.
