The Ugly Truth Behind Obama's "Me, Too" Bracelet

Remember the bracelet Barack Obama touted at the debate (you know, the one where he couldn't remember the soldier's name on it?)?

As it turns out, he is wearing the bracelet in defiance of the wishes of the dead soldier's family

(HT: NewsBusters).  The mother of Sgt. Ryan David Jopek of Wisconsin -- who is herself an Obama supporter -- personally asked Barack not to wear the bracelet.  Yet he did so anyway -- and then used it to try to score political points.

This is truly weird.  After all, surely there are families out there who would be pleased to have him wear a bracelet with their loved one's name on it.  What could possibly explain the lack of judgment and insensitivity that would lead him to ignore the explicit wishes of this dead soldier's mother?  Surely his efforts to woo Wisconsin voters wouldn't extend so far?

Any theories, readers?  This is is nearly impossible to wrap one's head around.
