"Code Words" of Conservatives vs. Radicals

Writing below, Matt points out below that Mrs. Obama was, in effect, using a sort of code language that could be interpreted as signaling a kind of solidary with leftist radicals who want, in essence, to destroy much of the American "system."

It reminded me of all the kerfuffle around President Bush's supposed "speaking in code" to Christian fundamentalists, as this San Francisco Chronicle editorial discussed.

It's somehow perfect, isn't it, that the hometown paper of renowned Catholic theologian Nancy Pelosi would be so concerned about the possibility of the President speaking in a way that could be embraced by people of faith. Interesting that that's what upsets the left, while radicalism trained on disgust with America is what bothers conservatives.

Tells you all you need to know.
