Thank God for the First Amendment

Mark Steyn's work is on trial before a Canadian commission for supposedly violating the "human rights" of Muslims. (Note the complainants' lawyer's chilling comment that "We're prepared to deal with those articles piece by piece, paragraph by paragraph, and those things that we find objectionable.").

In France, former actress and animal rights activist Brigitte Bardot has been convicted and fined for writing that Muslims are destroying France -- her objections springing from religious observances that involve killing sheep.

As a blogger and someone who enjoys the frequent and vigorous exercise of my free speech rights, I'm profoundly grateful to live in America.
