The America I Know

As everyone knows by now, Hillary had to retract her tear-jerker about the pregnant woman who died, along with her unborn child, after being unable to pay the $100 fee that an evil hospital supposedly demanded in order to treat her.

As I noted here yesterday, it's apparently a dark, dark world that Mrs. Clinton lives in (Mrs. Obama, too, for that matter).

In contrast, here's the America I know:

It was 5 a.m. and CBS News national correspondent Byron Pitts is with a woman who is nine months pregnant. She's rushed to a south Texas hospital to undergo a C-section - a $4,700 medical procedure that won't cost her a dime. She qualifies for emergency Medicaid.

The mother in question isn't even an American citizen -- she's someone who's brought her family to this country illegally "in search of a better life and free medical care for their unborn child."

No doubt more needs to be done to address illegal immigration.   But that isn't my point here.

Rather, it's that -- in contrast to what Mrs. Clinton would have all of us believing -- if there's a "problem" with the way this country is functioning, it's not that pregnant women are being turned away from hospitals to die.

And it's just one more reason I'm proud to be an American.
