"Harrowing"? Not So Much

Hillary Clinton has argued that her "harrowing" experience traveling to Bosnia as First Lady is one of the reasons she's ready to serve as Commander-in-Chief on Day 1.  But Sinbad, the Obama-supporting comedian who accompanied her (along with Sheryl Crow)

remembers it all a bit differently, and makes an excellent point:

What kind of president would say, 'Hey, man, I can't go 'cause I might get shot so I'm going to send my wife...oh, and take a guitar player and a comedian with you.'

Even if the trip had, in truth, been "harrowing," how, exactly, is this a qualification for high office?  By this measure, anyone who has faced any physical threat from an enemy at any time would be ready to lope into the Oval Office.

I've been critical of  Barack's unquestioned (by the press) assertion that his "judgment" in opposing the Iraq War prepares him to be Commander-in-Chief -- after all, even if I'm able to guess who will win the college championship basketball game this year, that still doesn't make me Coach K.

But Hillary needs to watch those little white lies she so frequently seems to fall back on.  They're all too reminiscent of the way the Clintons managed their eight previous years in The White House -- and they raise the uncomfortable question of why she even lies about things that don't even matter.
