I seem to recall the Left telling us, ad nauseam, that if women ran the world, we would have peace and prosperity. That makes me, a woman, laugh because these people have clearly never met some women. Heck, one of the classic films of cinema — "The Wizard of Oz" — is based entirely on two women fighting about shoes.

I joke, but the underlying reality remains: women are petty, mean, and vindictive. Far more so than the so-called "toxic" men that the Left so regularly complains about. If they ran the world, we'd have the opposite of peace and prosperity, because women can't even resist attacking other women for the clothing they wear.

Before all hell broke loose at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth's wife, Jennifer Rauchet, wore a dress that apparently came from the discount website Temu. Now, I've made fun of Temu in the past, but I will admit they have some decent things. I have a few cat scratching posts I've purchased and they've lasted and my cat loves them.

That was enough for a self-described "socialist socialite" to attack Rauchet.

First, the phrase "socialist socialite" is an oxymoron, but it's a revealing one. Socialism — the soul-crushing, economy-crashing, oppressive ideology — is something to be foisted on other people. The elite do not have to adhere to their rules, nor do they have to live under the abject poverty socialism inflicts on others. They — if they're connected to the socialist party leaders — get to keep their wealth, their mansions, their freedom, and their cushy jobs. For the rest of us? Not so much.

Second, I remember not too terribly long ago how the Left absolutely lost their minds about Hegseth spending a pretty penny on steak, lobster, and other foods for our troops. The Left, who typically loves spending, finally found their line in the sand, and it — unsurprisingly — wasn't Somali fraudsters in Minneapolis or hospice scammers in California. It was the men and women of our armed forces. That was what they finally decided was just too much wasteful spending.

So what's wrong with Hegseth's wife wearing a dress that costs less than $20? If she had spent $1,000 on a dress, the Left would attack her, too.

She also attacked Hegseth's choice of handbags, because the petty wasn't enough.

And? A lot of women order things on Amazon.

There's always a post, of course, and Devi wrote just a few years ago that, "If you call yourself a feminist and your 'feminism' consists of attacking and putting down other women you are not a feminist you are a loser.

At some point, Devi realized this wasn't going well for her and closed replies. Because heaven forbid you face the music when you say something wildly stupid.

But it's more than just a fashion spat, it's proof that Republicans cannot win. Wear an affordable dress? They'll attack you. Wear an expensive dress? They'll attack you for that, too.

Then again, we've seen the Democrats blame President Trump after a guy with a manifesto that sounds no different from an MSNOW broadcast tried to assassinate him again. Even when their ideology puts you in the literal crosshairs, the Democrats will never take responsibility for their behavior or their rhetoric. Instead they deflect, blame, move the goalposts, and use the crisis to advance their agenda items.

On everything from fashion to foreign policy, the Left is playing Calvinball. It's not about the dress, and it never was.
