Bennett's New Book

Bill Bennett hosted a blogger call this morning about the new book he authored with John Cribb, "The American Patriot's Almanac."

The book has only been out a week and it's already skyrocketed to #6 on the New York Times bestseller's list.

The 515-page tome has an appealing concept. The book contains an American history lesson for every day of the year, about all-American items like the rules for handling the flag, the Revolutionary War, Medal of Honors winners and lots of other items being glossed over in today's schools.

"The is an easy, once-a-day history lesson for each day of the year," Bennett said. "We think it's easy to digest, we think it's fun."

"The point of the books is to help encourage love of the country," added co-author Cribb.

Bennett said he'd like to see the book in school to change the "way we deal with history. It's undertaught and underlearned."
