McCain Campaign to Slam Obama Adviser

The McCain campaign will be criticizing Obama's Middle East policy adviser Daniel Kurtzer for meeting with high-level Syrian officials in Damascus at an event underwritten by Syrian business interests and a Canadian oil company in a conference call this afternoon.

HERE is the updated version of the story with reaction from the McCain campaign. McCain Senior Foreign Policy Adviser Randy Schneunemann said Kurtzer's trip amounted to "covert" diplomatic relations. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was also on the call. He likened Kurtzer’s meeting to Obama’s promise to meet with hostile, foreign leaders without “precondition."
