Open Mouth, Insert Wright

Rev. Jeremiah Wright must be blessed because only supernatural forces could explain his latest antics.

What else could have possibly inspired Wright's lunatic New York Times-PBS-NAACP-National Press Club media tour? Oh yeah, I know. Wright's ego.

I think everyone, even me, feels a teensy bit sorry for Obama. Especially when Wright started talking about why white and black children's brains are different. All this comes just when Obama finally thought it was safe to tell reporters his friendship with his longtime pastor was "fair game." Whoops.

I don't feel that sorry for Obama though. Obama sought out Wright's church for political benefit as a community organizer. Now Wright is cashing in his ties to Obama for his own political benefit as poster boy for everything that's wrong with the black church. In other words, Obama got hustled. So much for his good judgment.

At least Obama can take solace in the fact Wright has been screwing things up for John McCain, too. McCain infuriated some right-wingers when he tried to get the North Carolina GOP to call off a television advertisement that linked Obama and Wright titled "Extreme." Then Obama said it was okay to question the relationship and the right-wing chorus started screaming "Seee!! We can totally use this to slaughter Obama, quit being so wussy and go negative!"

Gah. What a mess for the both of them. I can only make two predictions about what will happen next: 1) Obama will give yet another speech on race and 2) McCain will keep making Republicans mad.
