"He is a very good choice," lawyer and Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz said on Fox News Friday, agreeing with President Trump's decision to hire former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani for his legal team.
White House lawyer Ty Cobb confirmed Thursday that Giuliani, a longtime friend of the president's, will be representing him in the special counsel's investigation into Russian collusion.
Dershowitz recalled facing a formidable Giuliani in several high profile cases in New York.
"He's a great lawyer, in addition to being a politician and someone who is deeply loyal to the president," Dershowitz explained.
Giuliani served as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, therefore "he knows how they play this game," Dershowitz added. Not to mention he is "widely respected" in these parts.
Trump should be focusing on the Southern District court, rather than Mueller, which Dershowitz predicts is "winding down."

Giuliani is poised to make Dershowitz's prediction a reality. He said he hopes to end the Mueller investigation in "a week or two."
Dershowitz also weighed in on the James Comey memos that came out Thursday, saying they are not incriminating, but "self-serving." They only serve to help Trump's case, not hurt it.
"We have a presumption of innocence," Dershowitz said. "I see no indication" that Trump "did anything wrong either before he became president or after he became president."
"It seems likely to me that he is innocent."
