Theresa May Called Trump's Tweets About London Attack Premature

An explosion in London's Underground train system left 29 people wounded Friday morning. Without skipping a beat, President Trump tweeted about the "loser terrorists" who were likely responsible for the carnage.

Trump called British Prime Minister Theresa May “to offer his condolences over this morning’s cowardly attack in London.”

While May accepted and appreciated the call, she also told the press shortly after Trump's tweets that the president's messages were not exactly welcome, calling them premature.

“I never think it is helpful for anyone to speculate on what is an ongoing investigation,” May told the BBC. “The police and security services are working to discover the full circumstances of this cowardly attack and to identify all those responsible.”

One of May's former aides, Nick Timothy, also dismissed Trump's tweets as "unhelpful."

Since May's remarks, ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack - just as they did for the London Bridge attack in June, which killed eight people.

Trump ended his Twitter response to the London attack by calling for a much broader travel ban here in the United States.
