'Second Test' For Berkeley As Conservatives Invite Coulter to Campus

In February, students at the University of California, Berkeley trashed and burned their campus and their city in protest of outspoken, controversial conservative Milo Yiannopoulos. Yiannopoulos, an ardent President Trump supporter and former Breitbart writer, had faced tough crowds before, but because of the violent nature of the protests, the school was forced to cancel his appearance.

In the wake of the degrading behavior, Trump tweeted threateningly that Berkeley could stand to lose federal funds if it continues to bully conservative speakers.

A little arson does not scare Ann Coulter. A couple months after the mayhem, she is expected to speak at Berkeley.

The Berkeley College Republicans, who are hosting Coulter on April 27, say this will be a "second test" for their school to determine whether the administrators are serious about protecting free speech.

“These topics are especially relevant in light of the fact that Milo Yiannopoulos, who was slated to speak on these issues at UC Berkeley in February, was unable to do so because of violent riots perpetrated by students, anarchists, and so-called ‘antifascists,’” he observed. “Ms. Coulter's visit is a crucial second test of whether or not Berkeley really is the ‘Home of the Free Speech Movement.’"

She knows exactly what she's up against, telling The Washington Examiner, in her trademark sarcastic tone, “I hear they’re nice people at Berkeley and expect a pleasant event and stimulating exchange of ideas."

The topic will be illegal immigration. She is not expected to be politically correct.
