On His Way Out, Reid Also Slams the DNC

Outgoing Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid is not leaving Congress quietly. Never one to make friends across the aisle, he has taken swings at the president-elect and other Republicans in Congress in his final days in office. In September, he skewered GOP senators for creating the "monster" who will now be his president.

After the election, Reid refused to acknowledge that the Democratic Party had any blame to accept for their resounding defeat. As for Trump's election victory and the claim that Russians helped him with their hacking schemes, Reid compared it to the September 11 terror attacks.

In that same BuzzFeed interview, Reid also targeted the Democratic National Committee. The committee has not done enough, Reid argued, to support the party's state organizations.

“The DNC does nothing to help state organizations,” he told BuzzFeed during a Tuesday interview at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. "That’s where they should be spending their time. We need the DNC to do that."

“One of my fundraisers ... he said, ‘The DNC is nothing but a big, dark hole,’" the retiring Nevada senator added. "'The money comes and goes in that hole and nothing happens,’ and that’s right."

Is anyone not on his hit list?

Let me echo former Gov. Mitt Romney when he offered Reid this parting thought on Wednesday: "good riddance."
