Update: Michael Sandford, a 19-year-old British man, told the police he wanted “to shoot and kill Trump.” After this failed attempt, he indicated that his next targets would be a rally in Phoenix, Arizona. He had been living in the U.S. for about 18 months and revealed to a Secret Service Special that he had been planning to assassinate Trump for a year.

Over the weekend in Las Vegas, new reports show that a 19-year-old tried to grab a police officer's gun at a Donald Trump rally. Thankfully, he was quickly apprehended.

Police said Michael Sandford struck up a conversation with a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer under the pretenses that he was seeking to get an autograph. During the conversation, police said Sandford tried to pull the officer’s service weapon from its holster. Other officers also assigned to provide security at the event were quickly able to detain Sandford and authorities said there was no further disruption to the event.

Sandford is still in custody at the moment as authorities try and determine what his intentions were. If he is charged with assault, he could face up to a decade in prison.
