Tim Tebow For Congress?

Former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow is reportedly being eyed for a Congressional run, the Washington Examiner is reporting. After Rep. Ander Crenshaw, who represented Florida's Fourth Congressional District unexpectedly announced his retirement, some were quick to speculate about a potential Tebow candidacy.

Republican sources told the Examiner that they are reaching out to Tebow in hopes he will consider a bid. They are even quietly pulling together a potential campaign team that he could use for the upcoming August 30 primary. "We could hit the ground running, immediately," said the source.

Tebow is a resident of the district, has solid name recognition and likability, and has previously expressed an interest in politics.

Any candidate, Tebow or otherwise, will have to get the ball rolling on a campaign relatively quickly. The primary election will be held on August 30.

Tebow, a graduate of the University of Florida, had a brief career in the NFL and now works as a college football analyst for ESPN.

Personally, I'm torn about this idea. Tebow certainly has good character and solid values, but I'm not sure he's ready for Congress just yet. It's interesting to note that if he were elected, he'd be the youngest member of Congress by about two years.
