Reality TV star and Olympic decathlon champion Bruce Jenner announced in an interview in April that she is transgender and will be transitioning to live as a woman. At the time, Jenner declined to release her new name, but stated that the interview will be her final one as "Bruce." Today, Jenner announced that she will prefer to be known as "Caitlyn," and tweeted a picture of her Vanity Fair cover.
I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me.— Caitlyn Jenner (@Caitlyn_Jenner) June 1, 2015
Jenner stirred minor controversy in her April interview when she revealed to Diane Sawyer that she is a conservative Republican who "believes in the Constitution."
Jenner requested that she be referred to with female pronouns.
