DOJ: Only Congress Can Block Climate Rules

The Obama administration says states, industry groups and others trying to put the brakes on new climate change rules should talk to Congress.

Justice Department attorneys argued Thursday that the Environmental Protection Agency’s climate rules are required by the Clean Air Act and effectively challenged opponents to take their concerns to Capitol Hill.

“Their objection, at bottom, is not really to EPA’s actions; rather it is to the decisions Congress made and to the strict requirements Congress itself imposed on sources of air pollution,” the attorneys wrote in a filing with a federal appeals court.
