After his rowdy rally at Madison Square Garden over the weekend, you know the Left is going to turn this into a Nazi play against Donald Trump—they already have. For days, we’ve heard that this rally would be nothing more than an exercise in expressing National Socialism. Bill Clinton had a rally here, as did Jimmy Carter and JFK. Are they committed Nazis? It’s a narrative that fell flat immediately but highlights something conservative activist Dinesh D’Souza wants to dissect in his new film “Vindicating Trump.”
And yes, the Hitlerian/dictator/Nazi tropes are all part of this immense and concerted campaign to destroy the 45th president of the United States, who could be on the precipice of one of the greatest political comebacks of all time. But Trump was president before, so where were the concentration camps, an Americanized version of the Nuremberg Laws, and the jailing and extrajudicial killings of his political rivals? None of this happened. The Department of Justice has been weaponized under Joe Biden and the Democrats, however.
D'Souza wants to understand this dichotomy — among other things — of how one can believe Trump will be like Hitler even though he’s already been a resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. None of the aspects of a typical authoritarian state emerged. We had peace, prosperity, and grocery bills that didn’t kill America’s working families. In usual D’Souza manner, he goes through the Left’s sordid layer cake of questions to get to the bottom of Trump and this gnawing matter of Hitler and authoritarianism.
We’re going to hear a lot about this in the final week as the Democrats’ 2024 playbook has largely been ineffective and outright weird; calling Trump Hitler is all they have left.
