Stopping China Before a Joe Biden Presidency

Prematurely or not, the mainstream media has declared Joe Biden the president-elect. China and its allies couldn’t be happier. Is it any surprise as to why?

According to recent reports and audio recordings, the Chinese fund affiliated with members of the Biden family didn’t just do business with the Chinese. It also invested in a major Chinese surveillance firm, all as Hunter flat-out said that he has relations with the “spy chief of China,” who agreed to pay him $1 million for legal services.

On its own, it’s concerning that the prospective leader of the free world would have such glaring ties to a country that’s made it its mission to defeat the U.S. militarily through intellectual property theft. But the problem reaches an even higher level when considering how Biden’s son even undertook a joint venture with an affiliate of China’s state-owned space company, which has been accused of producing planes with stolen intellectual property.

According to Tony Bobulinski — Hunter Biden's former business associate — the elder Biden shares many of his son’s direct ties to China. Bobulinski claimed that he even vetoed his calls to impose tighter financial controls around one of his companies that dealt with CEFC Energy, which the Department of Justice once singled out for IP theft.

And this might be the next president of the United States?

Space is ground zero in China’s espionage campaigns. The country believes that dominating us in space will allow it to defeat us military. So why is the Biden family still willing to do business with those who facilitate or co-operate in the concerted effort to undermine the interests of the United States?

The Bidens may feign ignorance, but everyone else is on the same page. Congress is targeting people like SpaceX’s CEO Elon Musk, who has taken $1.6 billion from the Chinese government and cozied up to communist dignitaries, with amendments to the NASA authorization bill. Donald Trump and Mike Pence also created the Space Force for the same reason — to stop the People’s Republic from continuing to get a leg up on the U.S. in outer space. But as the rest of the U.S. government continues working to resolve this issue, the country now finds itself with a man with ties to the worst Chinese actors within striking distance of the Oval Office.

Doing business with China on national security matters may be profitable, but that doesn’t make it right. There was a time when the nation’s leaders put patriotism before profits. Regrettably, that time appears to be long past.

Luckily, there’s plenty that the Republican-controlled Senate and executive branch can do to protect American people from China’s predatory impulses and connections to U.S. leaders — but in the event that Biden finds himself on Pennsylvania Avenue come January, they must move quickly.

Trump and Congress must work together to pass legislation and amendments similar to those proposed by Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo. They need to ensure that state-owned and backed China IP thieves can no longer engrain their tentacles into the U.S. government through their political and business connections.

Gardner’s amendments would have the Government Accountability Office and NASA’s leadership review all of its contractors’ ties to China. These reviews would expose security vulnerabilities that could create loss of contracts should the contractors refuse to impose tighter security measures.

Gardner’s amendments only apply to the space industry. But while space may be the industry most in need of protecting from the People’s Regime, Congress shouldn’t stop here. It should also move to enact similar China-proofing laws that span across all government agencies and departments while they still can. If they don’t, and Biden finds himself in the Oval Office come January, they will be sorry.

Republicans cannot afford to back down now. They must address this threat head-on in the immediate weeks ahead so that the safety and security of the American people remains preserved for the years to come. Every other public policy item pales both in comparison and importance.
