Caution: These Politicians May Not Be Human

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

I think the most gut-wrenching part of former First Lady, former Senator Hillary Rodham-Clinton’s testimony on Benghazi was when she related to other club members in the US Senate how she had “stood next to President Obama as the Marines carried those flag-draped caskets off the plane at Andrews. I put my arms around the mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, sons and daughters.”

It’s a wonder some of the mothers didn’t kick her.

On one and the same day that we had to endure Hillary choking up over the dead she helped kill in Libya, we then watched her probable successor, presidential wanna-be, Senator John Kerry, cry about the sacrifice that public servants (cough, hack) like…I dunno?…Senator John Kerry anyone?... make in their blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Of course the audience for this made-for-TV cryfest was the same US Senators that Clinton testified before. And it was from this hollowed club whence came former Senator Hillary, former Senator Obama and soon to be former Senator John Kerry, Swift Boat Capt’n.

And after watching the performance of the folks in the US Senate- and the big baby Boehner in the House- over almost a half a century I’m beginning to have suspicions that some of the members of congress and our government just aren’t human.

Crying? Fake crying now? That's what it's come to?

Because let’s tell the truth: Clinton’s State Department and Obama’s administration are the two actors most responsible for the dead people in Benghazi. Their failures were due to misshaped political calculations from Obama and Clinton, rather than a lack of resources for security at State.

Their chronic inability to see the Islamist Middle East as anything but a charming, willful child has led the US into a failed foreign policy in the Middle East, of which Benghazi is just a symptom, albeit a lethal one.

And only the most partisan of liberals can’t see it.

Here are two facts that I’ve talked about before but needs restating: The CIA is responsible for the security of US embassies overseas and for practically all comms traffic coming into State from overseas.

The CIA had the resources and the ability to protect the consulate in Benghazi. They don’t need anyone’s permission to protect American property abroad.

That they didn’t under a competent, if personally vain, former four-star general, means that someone stopped the CIA from doing their job.

The now-infamous video- which the administration promoted as leading to the storming of the consulate- ended up not even being a red herring; more like chopped anchovies, which of course, we know everyone hates anchovies.

But here we are with Senator John McCain saying the Benghazi cover-up is worse than Watergate and former Senator Hillary Clinton saying what McCain is saying is just a big fairytale.

And through all this they manage to be gracious to each other, if not downright cordial, with Hillary crying and McCain all smiling.

Clearly one, if not both of them, is lying.

And the lies aren’t about little things. Instead they are about very big things indeed.

Ok, so we are used to politicians lying.

Lying is the normal resort of humans when to tell the truth would involve some unpleasant public punishment.

Just ask Bill Clinton. He’ll tell you that.

But crying in public to get out of a lie or promote themselves?

Only someone not quite human would so that.
