Matching Media Memorandum – VARIOUS OUTLETS
Just following orders on how good Biden's performance came off.
It seems that the word went out that the press needed to beat back the general perception that during the State Of The Union, President Biden appeared angry and belligerent. With a need to course-correct that narrative, it seems Ian Sams came up with the solution, and sent that directive to the journalists, who followed suit and described Joe's performance in uniform fashion.

Stealth Story Evolution – ASSOCIATED PRESS
It seems the AP realized it had either fallen into the "fiery" trap or just as likely promoted it. Either case, at some point the syndicate decided to strike the use of that word and went with the second favorite description of the night, and went with "feisty." Yet, the original headline is still found in the address, showing up in the tap description.

DNC PR Firm – CNN
They will not fact-check the State of the Union Address but claim it disputes an ad.
Our Guy Benson noted a development that took place behind the scenes at America's third-place cable network. The non-profit group Building America's Future had a commercial spot highlighting the Laken Riley death at the hands of an illegal immigrant and Joe Biden's culpability in that death. While others ran the spot, CNN refused to air it, citing "unsubstantiated" content.
Protecting Biden – that's what nets you ratings below the cowboy reruns network!
I am told that CNN is refusing to air this. They ran out the clock on a pre-SOTU ad buy — then rejected it, calling several of its claims unsubstantiated. Fox and MNSBC aired it. In case you missed it: https://t.co/4osMsLypnf

Presentation Paradox – HUFFINGTON POST
Don't believe your eyes and ears, just believe her summation.
It did not take long for the fear to rise up in the press once Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson won the primary for the GOP side of the North Carolina gubernatorial race. A black candidate being chosen by the Republicans disrupts their common racist GOP narratives, so they need to go on the attack.
HuffPo writer Jennifer Bendery "unearthed" a video of Robinson saying controversial things. (That this video excavation took place immediately after he won the primary indicates this was actually "unshelved," as it was sitting waiting to be used if necessary.)
Making this more pathetic/partisan/racist/hilarious (circle all that apply) is that the video provided shows Robinson's full remarks, which are completely different than the context of the truncated quote Bendery uses to sell her exposé. In it, he stated he wants to go back to the time when Republicans were the force working to get women the right to vote, a complete contradiction of her claim.

Low-Octane Gaslighting – VANITY FAIR
Add "campaign manager" to his other failings on the résumé.
Brian Stelter looked at the news of Nikki Haley bowing out of the election, and he spotted where she made a miscalculation with her campaign: She did not go on the hyper-left-wing network MSNBC!
Add this to the list of "what Nikki Haley should have done differently:" Haley never gave a single interview to any MSNBC host, despite the obvious overlap between MSNBC viewers and her voters.
— Brian Stelter (@brianstelter) March 6, 2024
Does he seriously think that going on the network catering to the fever-induced hyper-left-wing would have tilted the scales in her favor for the Republican primaries on Super Tuesday?! She only won in the liberal havens of D.C. and Vermont. In Nevada, she received fewer votes than those checking "No Candidate" on their ballot. But sure, MSNBC would have turned things around.
