With recent moves by Governors Abbot and DeSantis to send immigrants to other states, the media have melted down in glorious fashion.

Low Octane Gas Lighting – THE WHITE HOUSE
- Our migrant trafficking is not anything to concern yourselves about.
To kick off all of this hysteria, we need to simply point out the Biden administration has been shipping immigrants out to other states for more than a year now. Simple fact. For all of the venom and bile that is to follow, it is all negated by that reality. Listening to Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, all of this becomes a vaudevillian comedy enterprise.
FLASHBACK: Karine Jean-Pierre said that "it's very different" when Republican governors send illegal immigrants across the country as opposed to when the Biden administration does the same thing under the cover of night. pic.twitter.com/4viBnNQ53x

News Avoidance Syndrome – CNN
Recommended
- Pretending this is a new issue is hardly an impressive stance.
@GBHNews reporting that Texas Gov. Abbott has started flying immigrants to Martha's Vineyard, presumably because only "libs" and the Obamas live there and because sending people to a relatively vacated island with limited medical and social services is hilarious. https://t.co/YYVp0HXF0s
— Juliette Kayyem (@juliettekayyem) September 14, 2022
Sure, it could be seen as nitpicking to note that Ron DeSantis, not Abbot, sent the plane to Martha's Vineyard, but this is a CNN analyst on the issue lecturing. Accuracy is needed when delivering an expert condemnation.
What is remarkable about Kayyem's response to 50 people sent there is that it has to ignore the lengthy influx Texas has been contending with, absent this journalistic hand-wringing. Apparently, thousands camped under a highway overpass is not considered a crisis because it is in Texas. A few dozen sent to a liberal enclave, however, is elevated to a national security issue.

Both Kinds of Standards – THE BULWARK
- Funny how this became inhumane overnight. Almost like who is doing it matters.
Mona Charen, quite unsurprisingly, learned of what Governor DeSantis did and found it to be the vilest performance she has ever witnessed.
Human beings treated as political props. Indecent. Low. Cruel. https://t.co/6py8wDRxMC
— Mona Charen (@monacharen) September 15, 2022
Of course, Joe Biden doing this very thing for at least a year now is hardly considered an ethical violation of crisis proportions.

Pathological Media Amnesia – MSNBC
- Chris Hayes sounds positively disgusted by the stance of…uh…Chris Hayes.
The MSNBC host saw the DeSantis maneuver and was positively sickened by it.
Deeply deeply sick and dehumanizing to fling human beings somewhere vindictively.
— Chris Hayes (@chrislhayes) September 15, 2022
So are they gonna pull this disgusting stunt with Cuban asylum seekers?
— Chris Hayes (@chrislhayes) September 15, 2022
This level of contempt, however, seems to be in direct opposition to the affluent liberal Hayes making claims that affluent liberals do not mind living with migrants, so color me confused.
There are many many examples of genuine hypocrisy from educated, affluent liberals who live in large metro areas but *unwillingness to actually live alongside immigrants* is not one of them.

Anti-Social Media – HOLLYWOOD
- For allegedly creative people, they sure plagiarize Godwin's Law regularly.
Did a Republican enact something that we disapprove of? Well, they must be called a Nazi by default! Cue the reliably dim "Star Trek" veteran George Takai, who looked over the Ron DeSantis flight and instantly had to go to Hitler allusions.
Seemingly unaware (as usual), Takai has just seen that Joe Biden has been hit the hardest.
There’s another evil leader, you know, who is known for shipping innocent people off without their consent for processing elsewhere.

Pre-Written Field Reports – THE BULWARK
- Biden is Catholic, not Christian, so it is different.
Another reliable trope to trot out politically when the Republicans manage to execute a plan that disgusted the left is to try to throw their Christianity back at them as a form of rebuke. DeSantis sending 50 people to the sanctuary state of Massachusetts is somehow a violation of Christian principles.
“Those planes were filled with actual human beings. People with dignity. People with hopes and dreams. People with names and families. And this Christian man used them as props. He didn’t clothe the naked or feed the hungry. He literally did the opposite.” https://t.co/8YdXnMGEFp
— Bill Kristol (@BillKristol) September 15, 2022
Perhaps Bill could shed some light on the religious implications of avowed Catholic Joe Biden sending far more than 50 flights filled with immigrants into Florida.
Say Bill? Care to check over the manifest inside of Biden's planes?
— Brad Slager: Semi-Fascist Practicing to Turn Pro (@MartiniShark) September 15, 2022
He's a Catholic man who conducted more flights than 50 immigrants, filled with naked & hungry arrivals to Florida and I missed your fainting couch hysterics over his use of them as props.https://t.co/B0jn6JkRY0 https://t.co/X6Z8HSBFUn
Presentation Paradox – REUTERS
- We need to have a discussion on the sense of scale.
At Reuters, they took a curious approach to the news of the Martha's Vineyard flights.
A group of immigrants landed on the wealthy Massachusetts island of Martha's Vineyard, part of a campaign by Republican governors to shift the immigration burden to Democratic areas https://t.co/GtJNSO3UUW 1/5 pic.twitter.com/IBThfhLk8c
— Reuters (@Reuters) September 15, 2022
Crunching the numbers, it seems difficult to rationalize how sending a few dozen immigrants in any way alleviates the burden when far more pour into Texas, for example, on an hourly basis.
BREAKING: One of the most massive single groups we have ever witnessed cross illegally at the border is crossing into Eagle Pass, TX right now. Low Octane Gas Lighting – HOLLYWOOD
- "You would never hear the Biden people making light of such a…oops."
The obliviousness in the high-minded set of this country has been remarkable.
See, it’s funny because they’re using human beings as political pawns https://t.co/DsQgReGMSr
— Ben Wexler (@mrbenwexler) September 15, 2022
Supposedly they not only are unaware that Biden has been shipping people around this country, but when people today are lashing out at conservatives finding humor in the DeSantis move, they are also oblivious that Biden's people were joking over their shipments.
JOURNALISTS: "Biden would never do anything this cruel, and his people would never make fun of it like these inhumane Republicans!"
