This is our daily VIP feature, where we will focus coverage on the practice of journalism in the nation. We'll look to bring accountability to the mishaps, misdeeds, manipulations, malpractice, and manufactured narratives in the mainstream media.
Gilded Reframe – CNN
Senator Cruz made a two-word comment about a compare/contrast someone placed on Twitter between the heavily-criticized animated woke recruitment commercial put out by the Army and a Russian military recruitment video. In retweeting the posting, Cruz only said, "Holy Crap." For this, CNN’s Jake Tapper declared, "Sen. Ted Cruz pushes Russian propaganda."
To call this a desperate read on things is obvious, but then Tapper turned the matter over to a panel, who then invoked Trump (naturally) and accused the GOP of no longer supporting the military. You are left to wonder – should Cruz have used more than two words in his comment, or fewer words?

- Ted Cruz takes another pelt over this issue as he roasts Brian Williams.
You get the sense of the media's desperation to cover for the Biden administration over this Army video as Brian Williams attempted the same charge, claiming Cruz shared Russian propaganda.
Cruz did not hold back, and in a brief thread, he not only defended himself but held Williams – and his network – accountable for cowing to communist leadership.
Pulitzer Prize Nomination – FOX NEWS - Peter Doocy
During a press event with visiting South Korean President Moon Jae-In, Biden was wrapping up the presser when Peter Doocy of Fox News asked if he could have a last question.
"If you're not asking me a mean one like you usually do," the president replied bravely. Doocy brought up some of the recent news items regarding official military accounts of mysterious aircraft on record.
"It's actually something interesting, I think, that has not come up. President Obama says that there is footage and records of objects in the skies, these unidentified aerial phenomena. And he says, 'We don’t know exactly what they are.' What do you think that it is?" Biden faced this decidedly not-mean question and replied, "I would ask him again. Thank you," and then ended the conference.
Evolving News Plotlines – CNN
It was just days ago when we talked about journalists who were vocally upset that reporter Emily Wilder was fired by the Associated Press over controversial comments she had made. A few days later, the episode played out again with CNN senior advisor Rick Santorum over some controversial comments he made. Notably, there was no howling heard when the former GOP politician was let go, and few complaints to be heard over cancel culture. Brian Stelter went into deeply critical depths over this issue with his panel, but then things turned amusing.
Guest Nicole Hemmer actually had the audacity to comment on how CNN, and its audience, have little tolerance for conservative voices like Rick Santorum. It becomes amusing when the normally insulated "Reliable Sources" has a guest who manages to slip in a critical comment about his own network.
Reporting On The Mirror – CNN
After getting his promotion for years of badgering President Trump, it is increasingly obvious Jim Acosta is unsure how to operate without his favorite foil. On his new in-studio show, Acosta continues to place the focus on the man no longer in power, desperate to get those hate clicks and passionate ratings. On his last show, he went on at length about those cursed Republicans and their opposition to the call for a commission on the Capitol riot, claiming that their position on the matter is in deference to Trump.
After delivering what he must have felt was a stinging barb – referring to Trump as "The Mussolini of Mar-A-Lago" – Acosta then obliviously hopped directly onto a rake in the form of invoking the preferred insult used on Acosta for the past few years.
Please, if anyone should know not to speak of this particular topic, it would be Jim @Acosta.

Pulitzer Prize Nomination – NBC NEWS
If just one life can be saved by telling people to refrain from embracing their livestock intimately, then this was well worth the announcement.
