Health Care Cloture Vote Officially Scheduled For 8PM Saturday Night

Reid just
filed cloture on the motion to proceed with HR 3590, which is the bill that will eventually be the official health care reform legislation. The actual vote will be on Saturday night at 8pm.
This means three things:
1) Reid is flat-out ignoring the 72-hour window to "read the bill" that pretty much everyone and their mother has requested.
2) Reid is dropping a bill that will influence the health of every man, woman and child in America at 8PM on the weekend before Thanksgiving. Perhaps this is in response to the fact that over half of Americans are terrified of health care reform, and only 40% support it?
3) Most alarmingly, Reid wouldn't drop the bill unless he was fairly confident he could get it passed.

They have already put Obama on notice that they are not amused with his anti-Capitalist healthcare that THEY will be paying for. All of you need to watch what the Chinese do when this stinking piece of crap passes. They will not even wait for Obama's signature on the bill to dry before they start cashing in their US Treasury Bonds and converting them to gold. They will dump 800 billion US dollars on the market, and our currency will plummet. Other creditor nations will immediately follow China's lead. It will lead to a precipitous nosedive in the value of the dollar. Bernanke will do what he's already doing - just print more and more money to "substantiate" the debt. When the dollar falls, the Saudis will put extreme pressure to...

Val exhibits is absolutely mind-boggling!
gracie, try at the very least to be a tad more intelligent in your drivel than val!
cottoneyed, I sincerely hope your forecast is correct. I think most people, of course the exceptions are the useless and stupid devotees of Obumbles, are going to be scrambling to "pay" for this so-called "health care!"
SJA, pitiful Val is a relative of Peggy the Moocher who proclaimed once Captain Obumbles was in the WH, HE would pay all her bills! Val the vacuous thinks this kind of sloth is something she should be entitled to as well, because she contributes nothing to society!

1. The "Read the Bill" talking point is most definitely not "hollow". Our reps in D.C. have a job to do and one of them is to know what they are voting on. As a NYer, I just called Senator Gillibrand's office and asked if she read the bill. Her staffer told me that she read it "with her staff"...meaning that she is relying on her staff to help her. Nothing inherently wrong with that, it's just that there's a chance something will get lost in translation. Why we must have a 2,000+ page bill is beyond me.
2. Reid may very well have the votes, and I'm guessing he wants to puff his chest on the Sunday morning talkers. Regardless, there should be more time for Senators and constituents to absorb the bill.
3. We'll see what...

The dems have finally gone and blown themselves up faster than a muslim suicide bomber. You cant hide healthcare and the effects this legislation will have on it. You cant hide being laid off or losing your healthcare from your employeer, increasing premiums for those that do keep their jobs, increasing waits for care, and decreasing quality of care and rationing of care (dont get breast cancer before you are 50 years old). The most non political among us will be suddenly alert and asking "WTF just happened" and the fingers will be pointing in one direction....to the left.....

Having spent time in one of the former Soviet countries shortly after the breakup I can tell you that Val and her ilk deserve the lifestyle communism affords. Health care is a joke. The black market economy runs everything. Anyone who needs care must gather together enough money to pay off everyone from the top down or they wait.
I was working on a medical education program so my group was wined and dined by the Health Ministry. We toured hospitals in the populated areas and the rural areas as well. What a shock when we entered an operating room and found that they did not have air conditioning but worked with the windows open. Some with screens and some without. We went through patient wards and saw that patients...

I'm with Dirk and Cotton, pass it now. In six months, we will have a wreck of a health care system as doctors leave it in droves and insurance companies drop you left and right and businesses lay off even more people. Result? In 2010, there won't be a Democrat left in Congress. The second order of business after rescinding health care will be escorting Lonny and Val to the ships bound for Russia, where they'll feel much more at home.

"By immigration reform I mean driving right wing extremists and their lap-dogs into the sea."
To add idiocy to her paranoid lunacy: most right wing extremists are natural born citizens, not immigrants.
Here's hoping that TH works as therapy for the likes of Val and Grace.

Bring it on. I look forward to the demise of the democrat party if this passes. It's been said that a certain party will only marginalize itself by catering to its radical wing. That party is the democrat party which is becoming more and more a regional (coastal) party. After 2010 they will never again be taken seriously as a national party unless they do something about their extremist wing.

"Beginning on line 7, p. 118, section 1303 under “Voluntary Choice of Coverage of Abortion Services” the Health and Human Services Secretary is given the authority to determine when abortion is allowed under the government-run health plan. Leader Reid’s plan also requires that at least one insurance plan offered in the Exchange covers abortions (line 13, p. 120).
What is even more alarming is that a monthly abortion premium will be charged of all enrollees in the government-run health plan. It’s right there beginning on line 11, page 122, section 1303, under “Actuarial Value of Optional Service Coverage.” The premium will be paid into a U.S. Treasury account – and these federal funds will be used to pay for the abortion...

"The public insurance option would typically charge higher premiums than private plans available in the exchange, according to the Congressional Budget Office analysis of the House bill."
All those who are so set on that public option that they think will be such a great thing better read a little. Public option will cost more than private insurance. Instead of getting cheaper health care by allowing insurance to be purchased across state lines and create true competition the government will create a new more expensive and more restrictive plan.
Did anyone really think this was about something more than additional government control of your life.

The Founders liked God; they went to church and had a Chaplain at the Second Continental Congress. They also liked guns: 2nd Amendment. They also like the right to voice an opinion: 1st Amendment. They also liked the free market: many were business owners. Finally they disliked high taxes and oppressive governor. As our country's founders and history as a standard, Amercian Patriots: Washington, Adams, Franklin, Lincoln, ect: are people that we would have expelled from this country.
Val, are you a Marxist or Communist?

I posted this yesterday, but it seems fitting.
As this is what Val and Grace find sooo great. Emotion over logic.
I want my lawn mowed.
(I want free health care at others expense)
It will be 20 bucks per month to get my lawn mowed.
(WTH? The Pied Piper said it would be FREE!!)
The deal is that the only way I can get my lawn mowed is to start paying now and the exception is that I can't get it mowed until 3 years from today.
(But,the Pied Piper said it wouldn't raise taxes to fund this!!)
So now I want the useful idiots to tell me what is right about paying for something that you don't benefit from right away?
What business do you know of on God's green earth(oops, did I say THAT out...

You are so right, we should have nominated a candidate like Biden, or Kerry who has more purple hearts than the marines. Or Gore. Get serious. Satire without truth is not funny. please remove your foot from your mouth, and try to reason. Palin is not the end all, nobody knows at this point, but i think its laughable the time your ilk puts in to dis-credit her. I think what you fear, is not palin, but American liberty, with all your little moves afoot from global warming, gay marriage, sustainable gardening, renewable energy, annd recycling. If i had any beer i would throw a beer cann away in your honor. Just stick all these things, all of them. ya little commie.

Honestly now, Grace and Val, how effective can this be if the Dems- with substantive control over both houses-- take 10 months to get this through... and, BETTER YET, have to resort to tricks like threatening reconsiliation and then taking the cloture route.
Yep, you're right, a whole lot to be proud of here. Effective governence is not one of them.
