A 'Trans Man' Wanted to Get 'His' Uterus Removed. Here's What Happened Next.

Earlier this month, Townhall reported that a story published in tween publication Teen Vogue featured a “non-binary” 28-year-old actress wearing an open blazer to showcase scars from her irreversible mastectomy to align with her “gender identity.” Predictably, the magazine faced backlash for promoting this type of irreversible life-altering procedure to a young audience.

This week reports broke that an Italian woman who thinks she is a “transgender man” was preparing to have her uterus removed when medical workers discovered that she was pregnant.

The woman, identified only as “Marco,” had already undergone a mastectomy to have her breasts removed. Marco was instructed to stop hormone therapy immediately after the discovery (via Daily Mail):

Giulia Senofonte, a Rome endocrinologist, told La Repubblica - the Italian newspaper that revealed the case, that medics had to stop the patient's hormone therapy.

Senofonte told the newspaper that if the interruption of therapy is not immediate, there can be 'consequences especially in the first trimester of pregnancy.'

'If therapy interruption is not immediate there can be consequences, especially in the first three months of pregnancy, which is a delicate time for the development of the infant's organs,' Senofonte said.

Explaining how it was possible for Marco to fall pregnant, Senofonte said: 'Hormone therapy blocks the menstrual cycle but it is not a contraceptive.

Reportedly, “Marco” will be the child’s biological mother, but will be legally listed as its father. Ahead of finding out she’s pregnant, Marco had been “assigned male” by Italian authorities, had grown a beard, among other things.

Matilde Vigneri, a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst and consultant to the Gender Dysphoria clinic at the University of Palermo, told Le Repubblica: “We are facing a new frontier and it will not be easy to understand it.”

“Marco's situation will force Italy, well beyond the political and legal limits, to deal with this new form of motherhood,” Vigneri added.

Several conservative commentators sounded off on the news on X.

“The gender fluidity theory is total madness. It’s against science and against nature,” Toni Brandi, the president of Pro Vita e Famiglia, a Catholic foundation, told Le Repubblica. “This case is a challenge for gender theories because it shows a woman is a woman.”

“If I perceive myself to be a woman tomorrow, it doesn’t make me capable of bearing a child,” he added.

In 2022, Townhall reported how lifestyle brand Calvin Klein posted a series of photos commemorating the holiday, one which included a pregnant transgender “man.”
