Congressional Candidate in Washington State Advocates For Over the Top Progressive Policies

Conservative Americans have been appalled by the radical policies of leftist legislators who champion ideas like abolishing ICE and enacting a “Green New Deal.” Well, in the State of Washington, a 26-year-old self-described socialist running for Congress has a platform that embraces these ideas and more.

Joshua Collins (who uses “He/him” pronouns according to his Twitter bio) is a truck driver hoping to win the seat currently held by Rep. Denny Heck (D-WA) in Washington’s 10th Congressional district.

Collins’ platform includes a smorgasbord of extremely liberal policies. He wants to shift exclusively “to 100% renewable energy by 2025 and create millions of jobs while doing it.” He also wants to “Nationalize energy production and the grid” and “Ban the procurement of fossil fuels, including coal, natural gas, and oil.”

He champions cancellation of medical and student debt, free public college and a stipend for students, and Medicare for All complete with free prescriptions, abortions and “gender affirmation surgery.” His platform states that “Abortion should be free, on-demand, and without apology or explanation.” He calls to “Nationalize pharmaceutical production” and “Void pharmaceutical patents.”

Collins supports allowing people in prison to vote and giving 16-year-olds the ability to vote at the federal level.

He’s pro-sanctuary city and wants to provide amnesty to everyone in the country illegally. His platform includes “[granting] amnesty to every single undocumented person in the United States, and implement a path to citizenship with expediency.”

He even wants to use eminent domain to grab golf courses in the name of environmentalism: “Acquire all privately owned golf courses by eminent domain and replant them with native flora. Golf courses have massive negative environmental impact and are extremely resource-intensive with regard to land and water,” his website states.
