Four Officers Shot Overnight in South Carolina

A gunman opened fire on three York County Sheriff’s deputies and a K-9 officer Tuesday morning.

The alleged shooter, identified as Christian Thomas McCall, 47, was injured in the crossfire. He was later arrested.

"The sheriff's office can really use your prayers and your thoughts," York County Sheriff’s spokesman Trent Faris said.

The officers were responding to a domestic disturbance call Monday night in York, which is roughly 25 miles southwest of Charlotte. The suspect had already left the scene when officers arrived, however.

When McCall fired his gun shortly after 1 a.m., a K-9 unit was sent to the scene; one was hit.

The three deputies were shot a couple hours later at 3:30 a.m. while continuing the search in the woods.

The conditions of all officers were not immediately known.
