Well, I Guess We're All Nazis Now

On Friday, Rep. Kathleen Rice (D-NY) called spokeswoman Dana Loesch and the National Rifle Association a “domestic security threats.” This is just insane, though probably not as insane as DNC deputy chair Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) saying that Kim Jong-un, the brutal North Korean dictator, is acting more responsibly than Trump concerning the increased tension in the Pacific theater. Loesch called on Rice to resign over these remarks, which promoted her office to release this statement on the same day:

All of this stems from a June video, where Loesch, acting in her capacity as the NRA’s spokesperson, blasted politically motivated violence, and how idiots only execute such antics. All she was saying was that conservatives and Second Amendment defenders would fight them on the battlefield of ideas with the “clenched fist of truth.” Well, that was taken as a call for civil war, a defense of white supremacy, and maybe a rallying cry to people to shoot liberals.

In Charlottesville, Virginia, white nationalists gathered over the weekend to protest the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue. Violence broke out, people were sent to the hospital, and one person was killed when 20-year-old James Alex Fields Jr. plowed through counter protesters sending at least 19 to the hospital and killing one.

Now, that’s morphed into the Left blaming Loesch and the NRA for causing this tragic incident. Guy has a piece on this weekend’s tragedy here. But let’s get one thing straight: the people who rallied in the shadow of Thomas Jefferson’s home are not part of the mainstream conservative movement. They’re not conservatives. They’re not Republicans. That being said, it hasn’t stopped the Left from engaging in intellectually lazy and appallingly stupid hot takes, like saying we’re all Nazis. Then again, it's their default go-to. I guess we're all Nazis over the next couple of weeks.
