Train Bombing Rocks Taipei

Over 20 passengers were injured overnight after an explosion occurred in Taipei’s Songshan Railway Station in what may be the worst train blast in the city’s history.

The commuter train involved was traveling from Taipei to a city in northern Taiwan.

Witnesses say they heard three separate blasts. Fortunately, no deaths have resulted from the explosions, although serious injuries have occurred – including third degree burns to a 14 year old boy’s face.

Witness testimony leads to an unknown man who reportedly left a bag in the cabin just moments before the blasts.

A spokesperson for the Taiwan Railway Administration has said the agency has ruled out equipment failure and is certain malicious intent was involved. The investigation is breaking and the main suspect has yet to be found or identified.
