Lobbyists Thriving with Do Nothing Congress

With Congress basically working every other day and getting nothing done, you might expect that lobbyists are down and out right now. But it seems that even though Congress won’t be getting anything done in the new year, lobbyists are doing just fine.

With 2014 being an election year, we can certainly expect a slow year in Congress. None of our elected officials want to screw up their chances at reelection by making a bad vote on something. Then what exactly can lobbyists still do?

Well it appears that even though Congress won’t be voting, many businesses and organizations are still hiring lobbyist to represent their interested with our elected officials. There is still opportunity for them to get things done.

Although there won’t be any big votes (most likely), lobbyists can still work to instill good favor for the future. Getting some ideas in the politicians’ heads for the following year.

Many Democratic lobbyists are worried about this year, as many are expecting Republicans to retake the Senate. Instead, many left leaning lobbyists will need to work on getting things done immediately, unlike Republican lobbyists who can wait a bit.

Depending on this year’s election outcomes lobbyists could either be very busy or out of luck.
