Hey Charlie if you want to look conservative you should run against Senator Bill Nelson. Compared to him you could pass for a real conservative. Think about it.

The problem is, you "conservatives" (not really) have created a mythic Reagan who didn't look anything like the real thing.
The Real Reagan -
Gave Amnesty to 3 million illegal aliens.
Raised taxes on the rich after cutting them.
Swapped weapons for hostages.
Reformed social security giving it another 30 years of life.
Paid $600 for Toilet Seat covers.
Increased the national debt from 900 Billion to 4 Trillion.
Speaking of the latter, I actually read the speech where he defended that. Thoughtful, intelligent speech, compared to the idiocy that would come out of the mouths of Palin or Dubya Bush...
Are our candidates becoming dumber or are we?

Gov.Crist is that slick, smarmy guy who started on Student Council, became his College's Student Body V.P., and on and on and on. Go find a damned job, Charlie and leave the Senate Seat for Mr.True Conservative Rubio.

that the US is trying to dominate other states around the globe. Or China is trying to influence affairs in Asia. Or Brazil is starting to flex its muscles in its region.
It's what nations that have power do.

[And if the new Russia is still not bent on world domination why are they controlling the oil to Europe?]
Why does any country control the oil that flows to their customers? Because they possess it, their customers demand it and need it, and that gives them a certain degree of leverage over their customers.
Any nation will use leverage on other states in order to achieve desired policy goals. That is the objective of things like withholding aid money, imposing sanctions, military provocations (all of which the United States engages or has engaged in), to get a client or a non-compliant state to follow your objectives or to come to the table and discuss compromises.

[Plus, we not in a war yet with fanatics.]
You forget exactly what the late 70's/early 80's were like with the Soviet Union being portrayed as a fanatical pack of Marxists bent on global revolution, world domination, and impending nuclear first strikes. Even after the Soviet Union fell, that type of thinking still colors our dealings with Russia.

Maybe Charlie, Barry and Harry could start up a new Three Stooges act.

Uh, I think Reagan was undermining our enemies and NOT HELPING THEM BY LOOKING THE OTHER WAY. Plus, we not in a war yet with fanatics. Here's what also happened under Reagan: USSR collapsed, Libya bombed, hostages released, etc.
Tax increases. You are correct. Reagan did not initiate but did sign on for increases almost every year BUT In 1982, Ronald Reagan proudly announced that he was getting $3 of spending cuts for every $1 of tax increase. He later lamented that all he ever got were the taxes. "Congress never cut spending by...

Even Reagan wouldn't measure up to the craziness, and that's saying quite a lot. The Party of Palin is an abomination.

I could go on, but Charlie's right. In today's GOP, Reagan would probably get primaried out of any office he tried to run for.
