More Popular Than Jesus?

Think Republican voters are too skeptical of the candidates' conservative credentials, this time around?

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford does. In fact, he told the Christian Science Monitor:

"Jesus himself could come back as a Republican candidate these days, and there would still be some people saying, 'I don't know about that guy ..."

I'm not sure we need to inject the Almighty into this. But he does make a good point. How 'bout asking is Ronald Reagan would be accepted today ... Which, of course, reminds me of this (of course, I wrote that post about the campaign calendar, but it could just as easily apply to the litmus test we are all applying to these candidates).
