Missing the Fred Thompson Zeitgeist

Missing the Fred Thompson Zeitgeist

I'm happy that Fred Thompson's lymphoma is treatable. My take is that he is getting this story out now, so that it won't be a liability for him down the road. He got this out of the way for the same reasons that Newt went on Focus on the Family -- because either story coming out at the wrong time could potentially harm their chances.

Combining this announcement with the recent (although less positive) announcements by Elizabeth Edwards and Tony Snow, I cannot think of another time when we have had three consecutive big news stories about polito's and cancer ...

While I am truly happy that he is well, I still count myself as someone who is out-of-touch with the zeitgeist.  For example, I am astounded that the mere posting of a doctors note -- saying he's fine -- would bring down a website.

A freind of mine describes Fred Thompson as a "stud," but, for now, I'm not convinced.

While everyone is happy that he is well, I'm not one of those conservatives who is on the Thompson for President bandwagon ... not yet, anyway.  Heck, he's not even my favorite character on Law and Order ...
