Earlier this week it was further proven through a 60 Minutes report that the September 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was well thought out and planned by al Qaeda terrorists in the city. We learned there were serious and extremely obvious warning signs about a looming attack that were ignored by the State Department and the White House.
Now, even though we still have very few answers about what happen in Benghazi, a new Rasmussen Report shows 43 percent of American voters believe the attack will hurt former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton should she decide to run for president in 2016.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only four percent (4%) of Likely U.S. Voters believe the circumstances surrounding the murder of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans in Benghazi, Libya will help Clinton’s candidacy. Forty-three percent (43%) think those circumstances will hurt the former secretary of State if she runs for the presidency in 2016, but nearly as many (41%) say they will have no impact. Twelve percent (12%) are not sure.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said earlier this week he would block all nominations in the Senate until Benghazi survivors are allowed to testify.The White House, Justice Department and the State Department have blocked access to witnesses for more than a year now.
The Justice and State departments are now citing a year-old FBI investigation and a future criminal prosecution to block access to survivors of last year’s Benghazi terror attack.
In an Oct. 28 letter to Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.,the State Department’s Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs, Julia Frifield, refers to "significant risks" and "serious concerns about having the survivors of the attack submit to additional interviews."
Graham has been asking since last year for the FBI’s transcripts of interviews with State Department and CIA survivors who were evacuated to Germany after the Sep.11 attack on the U.S. consulate.
