‘The View’ Chides Palin for Smirking at Hillary Portrait…Forgets When Obama’s Guests Gave Middle Finger to Reagan

During Thursday’s broadcast of “The View,” the co-hosts expressed their disgust over Sarah Palin’s behavior at the White House this week. During her visit, Palin, along with friends Ted Nugent and Kid Rock, took a picture in which they posed in front of former First Lady Hillary Clinton’s portrait, pointing and smirking at the defeated 2016 presidential candidate.

Co-host Sara Haines said she wished Palin would “bring a little class” with her, while Joy Behar quipped that this may have been “the saddest day” in the history of the White House since the British burned it down in 1814.

The talk show hosts are suffering from selective memory. Back in June 2012, President Obama invited a group of LGBT activists to the White House to recognize gay pride month. Two of his guests took advantage of the opportunity by posing in front of former President Ronald Reagan’s portrait and flipping him the bird. One of the guests, Matty Hart, posted the photo on Facebook along with the caption, “F*** Reagan.” He defended his behavior in the Philadelphia Magazine arguing that Reagan had “blood on his hands” because he was “the man in the White House when AIDS exploded.”

The White House made clear at the time it did not approve of the visitors’ conduct.

Certainly, this latter situation is much more disrespectful than Palin and company making coy faces at Hillary. Yet, don’t expect “The View” to make the comparison.

One of the co-hosts, Paula Faris, did, however, chide her co-anchors for their “selective outrage.” For instance, she wondered, what about anti-Trump celebrities like Robert De Niro who once said he wanted to punch President Trump in the face? Faris was “fine” with all of it, she said, because it falls under speech.
