Nigel Farage Unleashes In Epic Speech to European Parliament

Nigel Farage, a member of the European Parliament for South East England and leader of the Eurosceptic British political party UKIP, was one of the major supporters of the "leave" campaign. On Tuesday, he addressed the European Parliament in what was essentially a victory lap speech, outlining his ideas regarding the U.K.'s relationship with the European Union moving forward.

It's a bit of an understatement to say that Farage was not exactly welcomed back to the European Parliament with open arms and smiling faces. Twice, the other MEPs were reminded to actually listen to Farage and to cease booing and jeering him.

Farage certainly didn't hold back in his criticism of the EU, opening with a reminder that "You, as a political project, are in denial" in terms of issues such as the economy, currency, and immigration.

Farage criticized his fellow MEPs as being out-of-touch with the world, and said that many of them had never held a "proper job" in their lives. He elaborated that it was better for the United Kingdom to depart the European Union (and soon), he still believes that it will be possible for the U.K. to maintain some sort of relationship with the EU.

"Why don't we just be pragmatic, sensible, grownup realistic--let's cut between us a sensible tariff-free deal, and thereafter recognize that the United Kingdom will be your friend" and continue to trade and cooperate with the EU, Farage said.
