Can Jamaal Bowman Read?

Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) should’ve pulled the fire alarm because he’s being engulfed in the flames of controversy over his actions before a crucial vote to keep the government from shutting down last Saturday. The New York liberal pulled the fire alarm in Cannon. There’s no defense or reasonable doubt: he was caught on camera. His explanation was just as idiotic; it was an accident, and he was not trying to delay the vote. He thought the alarm would open the door.

Many observers, liberals included, found this to be entirely illogical. There are signs everywhere about what would happen when you screw around an area designated as an emergency exit. This man was a former principal. When I was a kiddo, we were told in no uncertain terms that if someone pulled the alarm and got caught, it would be the death penalty. Maybe that’s a bit harsh, but the electric chair for sure, also known as expulsion and probably a stern talking to at home. Mr. Bowman's failure in reading comprehension should cost him.

Maybe a part of me would let it go, but his statement was so boneheaded that I want him to suffer the six-month jail sentence, which is clearly expressed in the penal code concerning this matter. Bowman should also pay a hefty fine. Anyone else would be on a train to The Gulag Archipelago. On Monday, Bowman’s office issued talking points to fellow Democrats to stack sandbags. He clearly gave up on smart messaging, opting to go full Nazi to explain his actions. The man had to pull the alarm and break the law because the GOP is loaded with Nazis. That talking point disaster led to more mind-numbing stupidity from this member of Congress. I don’t know why, but this whole fiasco, and Bowman’s attempt to right the ship, reminds me of the scene in the film Bean when the eponymous character ruins a priceless work of art and tries to fix it

Bowman’s ‘I was rushing’ explanation also falls flat. Jake Sherman of Punchbowl News noted that the congressional tunnel system can take you to the chamber.

Also, “Have you in your life ever activated a fire alarm in a large public building to open a door?” he asked.

Pulling the Nazi card is a clear sign that Bowman and his staff know there’s no defense for this incident, which Capitol Police are investigating. There have already been motions for censure and expulsion filed by members of Congress over this stunt. The man deserves everything coming to him.
