Washington D.C. is no stranger to utter hypocrisy, in fact, hypocrisy is one of the cornerstones of modern politics for the vast majority of swamp creatures who wield power in our nation’s capital. For all the expert hypocrites that exist in Washington however, most fail to even render substantive competition to the godfather of hypocrisy himself. Of whom, I’m, of course, referring to Barack Obama.
Consider Obama’s recent comments versus his past actions when it comes to the issue of the day—the border wall. Just this past September, while speaking at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne campus, the former President blustered about how the “…[United States] can't just put walls up all around America. Walls don't keep out threats like terrorism or disease.”
Or consider Obama’s 2017 remarks in Germany where he stated, “In this new world that we live in we can’t isolate ourselves. We can’t hide behind a wall.”
About that.
In 2006, while Obama was a senator, he, along with other prominent Democrats such as Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer and even Hillary Clinton voted in favor of $40 billion in funding included within the Secure Fence Act.
As President Trump pointed out in a series of tweets on New Year’s Eve, Obama erected a guard house and ten foot brick and metal wall around his 8.1 million dollar residence in the posh D.C. neighborhood of Kalorama, creating essentially a walled fortress amidst a sea of multi-million dollar mansions.
In light of his recent comments these actions beg the question, why is a wall acceptable to protect the Obamas, but not acceptable to protect the American people?

Truly, it is a stunning display of hypocrisy to decry, even mock, the notion of erecting a wall to protect Americans from drug cartels, human traffickers, criminals and even terrorists, while simultaneously constructing a wall to protect yourself and your own family. Sadly, it seems we’ve reached a low point in our Republic’s history when this level of ‘for thee but not for me’ elitism has become modus operandi from career politicians, rather than the exception.
While the hypocrisy above should be more than enough to obliterate Obama’s credibility on the issue… there’s more.
Take a minute and imagine the calculated heartlessness that a person must possess to deprive those who fought and bled for our country, many elderly, of the right to visit a memorial that their tax dollars have already funded.
Incredibly, you don’t have to imagine what kind of person would give that order. During Obama’s infamous 2013 government shutdown, he apparently not only found walls to be highly effective, but he deployed them against our nation’s veterans, in order to deny them access from paying their respects to their brothers and sisters in arms at our nation’s war memorials.
That’s right, Obama found walls to be so effective he was willing to use them to keep veterans out of war memorials, yet claims they’re patently ineffective for keeping illegal alien criminals out of our country—despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
Obama’s willingness to flip-flop for political convenience represents an all too common maneuver of the political elite and it’s precisely this double standard-laden hypocrisy that is fueling the Democrats to keep the federal government shutdown.
For decades, Democrats have openly supported, both in rhetoric and action, securing our nation’s border, including the construction of a border wall. Yet since a border wall became a foundational promise of the Trump campaign, Democrats have shifted so radically to the fringes of their party that they are now consciously choosing to shut down the government in order to fight for future illegal aliens.
The Democrats have miscalculated. The majority of Americans do not stand with their extreme open borders views.
President Trump, if he takes the control of the conversation, can win this political fight because the truth, and the American people, are on his side.
In fact, border security is such a common sense policy that even Chuck Schumer aggressively made the case less than a decade ago, stating, “above all else, the American people want their government to be serious about protecting the public, enforcing the rule of law and creating a rational system of legal immigration that will proactively meet our needs rather than reactively responding to future waves of illegal immigration. People who enter the United States without our permission are illegal aliens and illegal aliens should not be treated the same as people who entered the U.S. legally.”
It’s time for the American people to hear from their president. It’s time to make America safe again—by securing our border.
