Will Congress pass Obamacare by the end of the year?

In a letter to the 2009 graduating class of Notre Dame, Father John Jenkins, the university's president, explains why he is "proud" to have President Barack Obama speak and be honored at his university.

Let's put aside momentarily the appropriateness of a Catholic university honoring a man who aggressively supports legal abortion, including partial birth abortion, and has supported a procedure that permits the destruction of a living child after birth.

Someone who says that the question regarding the rights of the unborn is "above my pay grade."

And consider that Father Jenkins says that, aside from honoring the nation's president, the university must be "a crossroads through which pass people of many different perspectives, backgrounds, faiths, and cultures." In other words, it must entertain diversity of opinion.

I maintain an active speaking tour at universities across this country. Over the years, I have spoken at over 180 universities of all kinds. And one thing I can report is that American universities are uniformly liberal.

The faculties are liberal and the student bodies are liberal. Diversity and dialogue at American universities means inviting a conservative to speak.

When Barack Obama speaks at an American university, he does not provide a different perspective. He preaches to the liberal choir. And I am afraid that most of today's Catholic universities are no exception.

Last year Students for Human Life invited me to speak at their Catholic school, the University of St Thomas in St Paul, Minn. The group's request for permission for me to speak on campus was rejected. When pressed for an explanation, university staff said they were unhappy with a talk that Ann Coulter had given the year before.

But earlier in the year, this same Catholic university hosted liberal Al Franken and a transgender activist named Debra Davis.

Barack Obama's strongest support is among voters ages 18-29. He beat John McCain by 34 points in this group, 66 percent to 32 percent.

Father Jenkins' argument that Obama brings a different perspective to the Notre Dame student body is dubious. Far more likely, the majority of the audience voted for him. Continued...

**“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” (Matthew 28:18, KJV) Not some, but all power. That doesn’t leave any power (or authority) for anyone else**

Your verse slinging is rather selective. YES Jesus declares all power is His, however, like a good CEO He immediately DELEGATES it to His apostles (Mt 28: 18-20), sending them to preach (not to write a book) to all nations,
gives them power to forgive sins (Jn 20:23), power to offer the Eucharistic sacrifice (1Cor 11:23-24),
power to speak with Christ's voice (Lk 10:16), power to legislate (Mt 18:18),
and power to discipline (Mt 18:17)

Christ would have been a poor commander and, most unthinkable, one lacking in foresight if knowing He was leaving this earth he would have left his Church without a leader.

**The Bible is the collection of all 66 books of Scripture that were inspired by God**

Wrong. For over 1500 years the bible contained 73 books. It was not until Luther found some of them 'inconvenient' to his theories that he decided to purge from it not only the Deuterocanonicals but other writings as well, among them Letter to the Hebrews, and Revelations. Had it not been for wiser minds those too would still be missing from the book you worship.
Further, the original KJV contained ALL the books the Cath CHurch designated as 'inspired.' Again, had the job been left to prots you'd still be arguing not only which books were 'inspired' but even if there should be a book at all. Fact is, you can't agree on the meaning of a single verse... let alone on how to put a book together! Do a little honest and unbiased historical reseach and learn something.

Fabius...

No reply at all, Fabius? What kind of strategy is capitulation by default?

What would the real "Fabius Cunctator" think about you 'phoning it in' with a re-post of your earlier reply?

Do you think your self-described namesake, the "Fabius" who "harassed" Hannibal, would have acquitted himself so poorly?

I don't think so.

But if that's all you got, that's all you got.
