Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

Recently I wrote about the trend in public schools to push an "if it feels good, do it" brand of sex education on our kids. Those who write the "health education" curriculum, oversee the lesson plans and have the greatest authority in education believe that there are no taboos, and no boundaries on a teenager's sex life.

That they actually believe teens should engage in sex at all should be enough to cause outrage - but it goes much further than that. Dr. Miriam Grossman's new book, "You're Teaching My Child What?" documents how they seek to shape an entire generation's world view to support and advance a free sex mentality that would shock even a "free love" child of the radical 60's.

Many educators are obsessed with promoting a promiscuous lifestyle. One particularly disturbing tactic is to strip our little girls of their natural inclination toward modesty and replace it with an attitude of sexual dominance. They teach young women that the way to get ahead in the world is not through their grace, or goodness, or intelligence - but through their sexual power.

Combine this reality with the theme of my last two columns, which are about the entertainment industry's elevation of a highly sexual and crassly powerful young female image, and we've created a culture in which our precious little daughters are constantly bombarded by messages that degrade their innate value, reducing them to nothing more than sex objects.

If our young women continue to be used and manipulated like this, what do you think America's families will be like in 20 years?

Make no mistake: this attack on our daughters is also an attack on the nuclear family unit itself. It is an insidiously evil brand of radical feminism that now pervades education and entertainment. If you can warp an entire generation of women into believing that sex is merely a tool to be used for advancement, then you destroy all notions of fidelity, and commitment for both genders. By default, our sons adopt the view that they do not need to be loyal or true in marriage either.

When you destroy the beautiful and selfless concept of committing one's sexuality and heart to only one person for life, then there's no room for the traditional family unit in our future.

We are at a crossroads in our nation and the pawn being used by those who seek to check-mate the family - the sacred and basic building block of all civil societies - is a little girl. She will be used and abused and then cast aside as the next little girls are born and brainwashed with ever increasing dangerous messages.

There are steps you must take now to protect and equip your daughter with her own moral authority over those who would abuse her femininity.

Through deliberate parenting every day you can affirm her value as a whole person. Find other families who share your personal values and surround her with friends and unconditional love. Encourage and help her to find strong female mentors who are marked by their goodness, wisdom, and sincere committment to family. Teach her to discern and dissect the messages of those who seek to advance a radical agenda. Help your daughter discover the joy and peace of mind that comes with teen years that are free from the threat of sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, and the low self- esteem sexually active girls report having deep in their hearts.

(Many of these timeless truths and practices, not coincidentally, also serve our sons. I'll expound on them next week.)

Please don't delay in making a committment to empower your own daughter to have the strength, wisdom, grace and courage to tower above the mire. God has given her honor and value. Don't let anyone rob her of it or her full potential.

The Opposite Of Bristol
Whatever they were teaching Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol Palin, I want the OPPOSITE of that taught to my daughter!

Look What I Found!
Dear Sol:
Well...here's another wordy message from you. Stripped of the irrelevancies, it boils down to your belief that children can be burdensome (true), that younger parents often lack inherent parenting skills (quite true) and that those who advocate for their decent treatment are clueless nerds at best (utterly false).

When I said that the STATE of childhood is sacred, I was not saying that children are born angels. I WAS saying that they are a sacred trust from God. They are also a tremendous responsibility, for it's the parents who ultimately must foist either a good citizen or a depraved monster on their neighbors. Thus, children must enjoy something approaching a stable home, a safe and loving environment and protection from corruption and exploitation. This should not be difficult to understand.

Two things you mentioned illustrate the key differences between us. First; you quoted what John said about past abuses and, like he, seem to regard this as an excuse for the present. Secondly; you envoke the "sexual beings" philosophy of Hollywood... a major standing justification by the worst of all criminals. I don't say that you condone the pornification of kids for profit, but by using their terms, you help to enable them. Children, before puberty, have no sexual urges beyond innocent exterior curiosity. When puberty happens, those instincts slowly develop across adolescence and must be carefully guided by good parenting.

This is where citizens or monsters are made. It is also the crucible of whether a nation or civilization endures. When children are degraded to the status of, at best, occasionally useful animals, then that's what they become. Animals. Preventing that is every adult's concern.

sex education
Working on the inter net,I come across many conversations that I can read and give my opinion to, which I usually don't. This one; sex education; unfortunately did. I will be as short as possible. First, I as the parent fully expected, and did, spoke with my three daughters and son about sex. Both sides of the coin though. Yes, my Christian belief is that they wait for that special moment once they are married. Yes, love, marriage and sex can be a great thing. On the other side, that moment has ever lasting effects on your life. At that special moment you may be committing yourself to a, hopefully, lasting relationship. You may also committing to "we" instead of "me". I should say "us" because now you have a child. Hopefully you are willing to earn and spend at least $150,000 in todays prices for the child, plus your husband or wife. Party friends are, or should be, your new mate and child. Both require love, faith and comittiment. On and On. Second, and most important, I have taken the responcibilty as the parten to give my children "sex education" not a teacher that I do not know anything about. As far as I am concerned, your job is to provide an educational enviroment that makes students want to learn the ABC's, math, history, science, chemistry, government, etc., not sex. When I have someone fix my SUV, I want to know if they know what their doing. If I have an electrical problem at home, I want a knowledgeable electrician. As far as the teacher, you know nothing of their accomplishments, hell you could be dating a goat, an being a true American, that is your own business, not mine; as long as you don't bring it to call with you.
PS. From what I've read, this could almost be a porno site.

Dear Sol
I've been advocating for children for a few years, now. When I started, I assumed that I'd have to put up with occasional remarks like your's. I also assumed that they'd likely come from those who hold the value of childhood in contempt, who could not admit to themselves or others their own innate depravity and would thus resort to personal attack of the worst order in self defense. And, as so often in the course of my advocacy, I've held to the hope that I'd be proven wrong in my conclusions. Sadly, I seldom have... particularly in this area.

I've seen your remarks, compared them with others I've seen in the defense of obscenity and marked them as a testament of your character. I'm secure in the knowledge of my own motivations. I also realize that a man can have no higher calling than in children's defense. And, I can assure you, I will not retreat from that calling. Certainly not on the say-so of one who delights in the denigration of innocence.

Steve's Fantasy
I know it may seem like we have always placed children on a pedestal, but anyone familiar with the history knows differently. The idea of sacraficing "everything for the children" is relatively new.

For example, up until around 1900, many parents simply did not get close to their children until they were three or even four years old, i.e until it was kind of clear that they would survive. Brutal child labor was not uncommon until the 30's in the US: why do you think we neeeded child labor laws.

The British raised their chidlren by proxy for centuries, preferrign to send them to boarding schools as young as 6 years old.

I love my kids. I have 4 of them. But I also have a realistic picture of the history of childhood, and that hisotry is not fraught with rainbows and unicorns the way you think it is.

When Childhood Ceases...
... to be sacred, then nothing else is. Once upon a time, children stood at the top of the pyramid of life. That began to diminish in 1947 with the "intelligencia's" acceptance of the Kinsey Report, the perverse work of a known homosexual and pedophile. It continued on with the hippie movement which equated "love" with "lust" and denied the family in favor of communes. Then, in 1976, Hollywood took up the cause with the overt sexualization of children in the film "Taxi Driver"... which led to overt child pornography in 2006. Soon afterward, the Supreme Court ruled that illustrated representations of children in sexual travail was legal. On the internet, kiddie porn has become so rampant that the FBI must concentrate on it almost solely... and are still losing. Step by step, the degradation of children (little girls in particular) has become institutionalized and pervades the fabric of modern society. The onetime symbols of all that was dear and decent in humanity have been turned into the spoils of adult ambition and perfidity.

Not quite...
While most meadia, entertainers, and videogame and tv show producers promote sex, the sex educators at my high school, Blacksburg High School do not. The "attack on your daughters" has to be looked at case by case, school by school. Blacksburg is also not a conservative town, it's moderate, with many liberals and many conservatives.

Twisted Minds & Other Sickos
The current trend described by Ms Hagelin is also one of societal degeneration into the gutter (see “The Fall of the Roman Empire”). Societal mores are being manipulated from every quarter (especially the sick media) which imposes a reality that is degrading to all involved but especially women and girls. Instead of a people with high ideals and morals, a rigid spine, and gentle social interactions, especially regarding deference to women, it has devolved to immoral, spineless, and harsh/non-caring/meaningless relations between the sexes and all of society in general. Everything is a commodity to be exploited; nothing is sacred; the spirit within is dead; our Nation is dying.

Do you keep them under lock and key, 24/7/365?

If not, you have no control and no idea of what they are "learning" when you are not there to "protect" them.

John grow up dudette!
Once again you avoid the facts your little link is not factual but like all studies are an assimilation of statistics given by people that are saying what they have been told by others and is a theory or hypothesis, whereas reports given by the CDC are in fact required by law to track diseases and the transmission of those diseases, now if you would like to say people can be relied on to tell the truth you sir are an example of that not being so. And I never said I agree or diagree with the article another assumption on your part or are you just making it up as you go along.
As to your resorting to calling others names it only goes to prove just who the moron is, and since this is a Conservative Blog can you answer the question as to why you and your ilk Troll our blogs to puke out your poison, and calling you a Troll is not calling you a name that is just what you and your ilk do.
You may live for every word your chosen one may say but I see them as total lies as does 60% of America, you can run your post through your text editor spell and grammar check it because this is all you’ve got in your little world that is closing in around you day by day, people like you will argue with a stop sign and like the Troll you are the days of your extinction is closer than you may think, your life must be as meaningless as a tick on a pigs backside. I mean is that all ya got!

More dangers
As if it wasn't bad enough to see what our "educators" are trying to push on our children with their "sex whenever you want it" message, with the risk of STDs, HIV, et al, (And no; condoms do not prevent the transfer of HIV. Do the research.) they are killing girls and young women by pushing drugs, such as Gardasil, which, at last count has killed at least 32 people and injured many more. Thank God for the ability to home school, as was mentioned in a previous comment.

So right...
Yes. Teach girls to save themselves for the right man, the man they marry. Then teach them to save themselves for the man they marry after their first divorce. And so on.

And don't teach the boys anything, for they can do no wrong.

Am I Wierd or Is This Normal?

I picked up a book by this title, a withdrawn paperback from the local public library. It looks hip and fresh, looks like the sort of thing you can hand to your teen and let her read - about body changes during puberty. Right? Wrong.

In this book are: at least one chapter on sex, where they list "good reasons to have sex" as "If you want to" "If you love your partner" "If you are using a condom" and reasons not to as mostly, don't get pushed into it. Oh yes, and parents are subtly mocked for not understanding you.

There is also a chapter on abortion. It guides young women who do get pregnant, to have abortions. Adoption isn't mentioned. How to get by, get a diploma while your child is in the school's daycare, and be responsible in a difficult situation....isn't mentioned. Nope. Just abortion. Love that "choice"...the only one offered.

My daughters are homeschooled, for a whole lot of reasons. But not being exposed to this cr@p is one of them.

John pt 2
All that mindless right wingism virtually assures you will never identify the real causes of the problem and never design a solution with a prayer of succeeding.

Sez I: Au contraire, friend. You don't have to be a theologian or a sociologist to see that people are flawed, and that we all make mistakes. The question is not about the 'root problem', for we all know what it is: imperfection by whatever name you wish to call it. What you folks don't seem to want to understand is that teaching caution and restraint in matters sexual where children are concerned does not necessarily equate to prudishness or reluctance to accept 'reality'. We KNOW that the sex instinct is a powerful one and like fire, it must be mastered else it master us. We are also quite aware that no method of teaching is foolproof, see my first reply in this post. In the meantime, take a good look at the cover of any Cosmopolitan magazine and tell me that isn't enslavement rather than enlightenment. Good grief, the editors can talk about little else besides the 'newest' sexual trick to 'turn him on' and 'keep him begging for more'! Do you like being portrayed as a creature who is led around by his pen!$, or of women being portrayed as primarily able to act the slvt before anything else?

Only a liberal can obsess about sex yet call it enlightenment.

John sez Pt 1
But let me clarify. Conservatives have been taught and trained for years to blame the closest identifiable liberal icon for whatever phenomenon you see in front of you.

Sez I. Nope. We see the end product of liberal philosphies and draw the only conclusion that usually can be drawn. Only in liberal minds is it possible to cast life in terms of all/nothing rather than more/less. Total elimination of anything, be it teen pregnancy, economic inequality or the flies in August is not possible, but you guys keep trying and call 'fail!' on us conservatives when human nature asserts itself in spite of all the programs and incentives you insist on pushing on us.

In this case its sex education purveyed by liberal teachers and dirty minded liberal old men. (I wonder if the frequency of child sex abuse is higher in red states too. My guess is yes)

Sez I: What possible difference does it make where people live? People are people-and as any responsible parent can tell you doing everything as right as you can in raising your kids is no guarantee they won't reject any or even all of what you teach. They do have their own minds, after all, and have to learn their own lessons and make their own mistakes just as we do. And, what does child sex abuse have to do with location? Population bases matter more than geography. More people, more of everything, including child sex abuse. As to sex ed, what gives you or anyone else the right to interfere with how I teach my own kids? I don't bother your kids and get in your business, you don't bother mine. Deal?

Michael
The fact that you are an utter moron, without the ability to construct a sentence, follow a link, or tell the difference between data and opinions does not surprise me. You are, after all, a spokesman for the conservative movement.

You claim my facts are not "real" facts? What exactly is a "real" fact? Is that something different from a "fake" fact? Honestly, did you follow the link to the teen pregnancy study that I provided. Tell the TRUTH now.

Perhaps I can help. When Hagelin CLAIMS something is the case, like saying "Many educators are obsessed with promoting a promiscuous lifestyle." she is merely stating her opinion. There is no data that supports her belief. That you agree with her opinion does not make it a fact. It just means you share her opinion.

As we all know, opinions are like butt holes...everyone has one and exposing it rarely advances the conversation.

My question.
Mississippi has the highest rate of live births per 1000 at 71. Mississippi also ranks 3rd in the number of teen pregnancies with 103.

What happens in the 32 pregnancies that don't result in a live birth?

I would imagine that some are aborted in Mississippi, but what happens to the rest?

Same with New Mexico... 103 to 66. What happened to the other 37?

I doubt that there were that many mis-carriages.

Duh John
Is the little sissy throwing a little fit, your facts are not real facts John, first of all you avoid the real point that has been made, the impact that sex education has on children, past, present and future generations not the number of teen pregnancies. As always liberals would like to move away from real facts and as you stated bring the big bad conservative boogeyman of which you fear with every ounce of your being.
So just what is it about teaching our children to have morale’s that you fear John, just what is it that teaching our children about God that you fear John, is it that we teach having sex with someone is something you should wait for that bugs you the most, is it the fact that with the morning after pill and abortion you can stand there and say teenage pregnancies are down to all time lows but STD’s are at all time highs, now even a Troll like you would have to peek out of your cave and say that just does not add up, you cannot have more STD’s with less sex it is just not possible.
It is Liberal Trolls like you that Conservatives must rid our society of. It is your constant clamor of perversion that you attempt to infect our children with that we must find a way to stamp out and is the real threat America faces it is your Godless immoral way of life that is at the root to all of America’s problems not Conservatives but posers like you and your if it feels good do it mentality, maybe that is why the prisons are filled to the brim with people that think just as you do.

abortion stats
Mary, based on all the numbers, there are fewer live births in the northeast for two reasons:

A. There are fewer teen pregnancies, and
B. abortions

The statistics for pregnancy are based on reports from doctors in a particular state.

The stats on live births are from birth certificate records issued by a state.

However, when it comes to abortion, the stats only say where the abortion was performed. There is no records kept of where the teen lives, i.e. home address.

It is possible that the northeast has more abortions because they are not available in the southeast and southwest.

Mary
Is that what you are really guessing? Or is it teh case that you have already determined that conservatives states are good and blue states are evil, so it MUST be that way.

Abortions womena 15 - 19
There appears to be a concentration of states in the Mid-Atlantic region of the East Coast. However, it's interesting to note that none of the states in this region appear on a ranking of the top ten states with the highest teenage pregnancy rates in the US.

A September 2006 report by the Guttmacher Institute compiled teenage pregnancy and abortion statistics in the United States gathered state by state in 2000. Based on available data, below are listings of states ranked by abortion rates.

States ranked by rates of abortion among women age 15-19 (pregnancies per thousand):

1. New Jersey (47)
2. New York (46)
3. Maryland (38)
4. Nevada (36)
5. California (36)
6. Hawaii (34)
7. Florida (33)
8. Delaware (31)
9. Connecticut (30)
10. Illinois (27)

Only two of the above rank in the top ten states with the highest teenage pregnancy rates of young women age 15-19. They are Nevada (ranked first with 113 pregnancies per thousand) and California (ranked seventh with 96 pregnancies per thousand).

Luna:
You've shown us charts of birth rates, etc., by state. Now show us a chart of abortion rates by state. My guess is that the northeast has fewer live births per thousand than the south is that there are more abortions per thousand there.

From an older study...
Each year, almost 750,000 teenage women aged 15–19 become pregnant. The teenage pregnancy
rate in this country is at its lowest level in 30 years, down 36% since its peak in 1990.

A growing body of research suggests that both increased abstinence and changes in contraceptive practice are responsible for recent declines in teenage pregnancy.

• The teenage pregnancy rate among those who ever had intercourse declined 28% between 1990 and 2002.

• The teenage birthrate in 2002 was 30% lower than the peak rate of 61.8 births per 1,000 women, reached in 1991.

• Between 1988 and 2000, teenage pregnancy rates declined in every state and in the
District of Columbia.

• By 2002, the teenage abortion rate had dropped by 50% from its peak in 1988.

• From 1986 to 2002, the proportion of teenage pregnancies ending in abortion declined more than one-quarter from 46% to 34% of pregnancies among 15–19-year-olds.

• Among black women aged 15–19, the nationwide pregnancy rate fell by 40% between
1990 and 2002.

• Among white teenagers, it declined by 34% during the same time period.

• Among Hispanic teenagers, who may be of any race, the pregnancy rate increased slightly from 1991–1992, but by 2002 was 19% lower than the 1990 rate.

Teen birth rates
The highest teen birth rates are in the South and Southwest;

Mississippi is highest with 68.4 per 1,000,
New Mexico, with 64.1
Texas, with 63.1.

The lowest rates are in the Northeast.

New Hampshire had fewest with 18.7 per 1,000. Vermont, with 20.8 per 1,000,
Massachusetts, with 21.3 per 1,000,

Decreases were noted in New York, North Dakota, Rhode Island and the District of Columbia.

Michael

I know that you have been trained to blame everything on some liberal boogeyman. However, the data are what they are. The rate of teens becoming pregnant in the first place has been in decline. The number of teens who become pregnant (not the number of teens giving birth) is at its lowest level since 1990.

There is a grammatical tool known as period. It looks like this: .

You can use it to help make your ramblings at least partly understandable

Luna
So you're saying that the more Mexicans a state has, them more pregnant teens it will have?

Sort of Right
John states the following:
"The third phenomenon is actually somewhat connected to your paranoias. Women are no longer the property of men who exercise control over their social, sexual, professional and economic lives. It is simply impossible to construct a culture where women have personal and individual control over their social, economic, and professional lives, but somehow adhere to the sexual codes of past world."

I agree that women have gained rights. This is good. What has come with those rights has not been all good. One can call it paranoia. I call it common sense to lament that as a teenager society for the most part supported the morals my parents taught. Now it is an uphill battle as a parent to be the counter-culture against an "anything goes" mentality perpetuated by society and sadly the educational system.

As others have noted the push toward promiscuity doesn't give rise just to STDs, but the emotional impact of the "hook up" culture is also damaging to young women. As a parent I could throw up my hands and give in allowing my children to become pawns of the society. I choose not to let that happen. To what degree it is possible, I educate my children not to give in to the "anything goes" mentality. If that makes me paranoid, so be it. I would rather be parnoid and give a hoot about my children's welfare than give in to letting this culture raise them to be damaged both in health and spirit.

LOL John
Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha, what a clown, maybe you should read the stats, teenage pregnancies are in fact going down as the rate of abortions climb to astronomical rates, this fool is not as you liberals would like to say planned parenthood and slip it into your Liberal Health Care Plan but murder, STD’s are in fact at or approaching epidemic rates, and as far as my tool you little queenie, I see that is the first point you would like to make so as always is the main thing on a Liberals Perverted mind, talking to a bobble head of a liberal is purely a waste of time, go roll another one John, view your porno and pound your keyboard you little helpless man.

Reality: Part II
Thanks to Luna for the data laden posts. One of those posts seems to indicate that STD's are more prevalent in the red states than in the blue. (Of course, the same is true of illegitimacy. And red states take more dollars from the federal government than they contribute in taxes. Bastions of conservative principles.)

But let me clarify. Conservatives have been taught and trained for years to blame the closest identifiable liberal icon for whatever phenomenon you see in front of you. In this case its sex education purveyed by liberal teachers and dirty minded liberal old men. (I wonder if the frequency of child sex abuse is higher in red states too. My guess is yes)

All that mindless right wingism virtually assures you will never identify the real causes of the problem and never design a solution with a prayer of succeeding. I know it makes you feel righteous and holy, but in fact, you are just making things worse by refusing to deal with reality.

STD facts:
Sexually Transmitted Diseases in America:

* More than half of all people will have an STD/STI at some point in their lifetime.

* The estimated total number of people living in the US with a viral STD/STI is over 65 million. Every year, there are at least 19 million new cases of STDs/STIs, some of which are curable.

* More than $8 billion is spent each year to diagnose and treat STDs/STIs and their complications. This figure does not include HIV.

* In a national survey of US physicians, fewer than one-third routinely screened patients for STDs/STIs.

* Less than half of adults ages 18 to 44 have ever been tested for an STD/STI other than HIV/AIDS.

* Each year, one in four teens contracts an STD/STI.

* One in two sexually active persons will contact an STD/STI by age 25.

* It is estimated that as many as one in five Americans have genital herpes, a lifelong (but manageable) infection, yet up to 90 percent of those with herpes are unaware they have it.

* With more than 50 million adults in the US with genital herpes and up to 1.6 million new infections each year, some estimates suggest that by 2025 up to 40% of all men and half of all women could be infected.

* Over 6 million people acquire HPV each year, and by age 50, at least 80 percent of women will have acquired genital HPV infection.

John
I never said that the school nurse was 'the' catalyst for my own experiences. What that nurse did was further ingrain the popular cultural idea that 'everybody's doing it' and that it was no big deal; just a sensation to be enjoyed. In other words, she was the institutionalized and government-funded face of Cosmopolitan magazine in the school. Now who do you think that really helped? Do not the county health depts receive funding based at least partially on their client load? Who at 50 still has the mindset of a 17-yr old-and don't we older folks have a moral responsibility to help them avoid those mistakes rather than encourage them? And what do you make of the well-documented depression among college women because they want Mr Right but can't seem to find him because all the guys seem to want now is a one-night stand? Good Lord is that what you want for your own daughter-or son?

In my 9th grade year (back then that was still jr high) there were three girls out of about 100 who got pregnant. As a senior in high school, I was aware of two young ladies out of a class of 200 who were already married but if either was pregnant it never showed and I frankly never knew for sure. LOL looking back one of the two had moved to Canada, maybe because she already was in the family way, and marriage was the cover. Who knows? Interestingly enough there were also the girls known as 'slvts'-now why should that be in an age of supposed sexual 'enlightenment'?

If the liberals want the Government out of our bedrooms they might first ask themselves why they still want the government to instruct our kids on bedroom behaviors and give them pills and things to encourage those behaviors. Talk about being hypocritical!

Michael
Not the biggest tool in the toolbox, are ya?

I agree that ill considered and random sexual behavior is a bad thing. The point is that most conservatives do not have the historical, scientific or cultural understanding to figure out why its happening. As a result, you run around blaming your pet boogeymen instead of really thinking about the issue.

For example, you appear to be unaware that the rate of teen pregnancy is going in the RIGHT direction since the advent of comrpehensive sex education. Fewer pregnancies is good, no?

Nor are you aware that the general mode of sexual encounter is serial monogamy. Girls tend to lose their virginity in what they consider a serious and stable relationships, not in random meaningless encounters.

If you would talk about these issues as realities instead of your personal political fantasies, you might get somewhere.

Learning the hard way
Having a baby is the least of the problems a sexually active young girl runs into. The baby actually kicks some protective maternal instincts into motion. I know of a couple grandmothers who confided that having a baby (pregnancy, etc.) actually saved the granddaughter's life.

However...and I hope my daughter doesn't mind this...some guy with aids tried to get in her pants to give her the desease. He finally walked out in front of a truck on a dark night to end his misery.

Sexeducation...of the Sol Gordon liberal variety...is a horrible abomination. It is completely dishonest about catching STDs. About the psychological complications of sexual activity. It advocates teaching masturbation to five year-olds. I know about this! I confronted him personally at a gathering of those getting college credits for what he was teaching.

One last thing. I graduated from highschool in 1961. Things were wild back then. But not as deadly! The day is coming when our society will have no other choice but to stop sleeping around. Diseases. They are stronger and stronger! There is aids...but it is not the only deadly thing. America presently is a "gut pile" of obomination...and we (Western Civilization)are desimating the rest of the world with our excesses. We have destroyed Africa. The backlash could be pretty severe.

STDs - First place goes to....
A CDC study presented in 2008 revealed that around 26% of young American women aged 14-19 are infected with at least one of the four most common sexually transmitted infections.

This amounts to around 3.2 million female teenagers. The most widespread infection is HPV (human papilloma virus, which can cause genital warts and cervical cancer), found in 18% of young women. In second place is chlamydia, with a 4% infection rate.

Of course you can watch TV and before long, you will see the drug companies telling you what drug you should tell your doctor you want to treat your warts.

I have no doubt that things are much
worse for little girls now than they were when I was one, but the origins of this stuff in America go back a lot further than 30 years ago. When I was little, I kept hearing about Dr. Kinsey. By the time I was 12, Hugh Heffner started publishing "Playboy." It was around that time that Marilyn Monroe was making such a splash. I think her calendar photo had already been published.

By the time I was in high school, girls were already being objectified and suffering terrible gossip because boys were bragging about their "exploits" whether or not they had any.

What is worse now is the incidence of rape, STDs, and abortions, and the utter lack of showing the consequences of promiscuity in programming.

Even National Geographic had programs about the "Sexual Revolution" and "Woodstock" last week, as if there were no downsides to either.

Liberal Trolls
I was kind of wondering since this is a Conservative publication why you Liberal Trolls, John, David and of course Balanced seem to always want to put in your Fascist point of views, since I have seen your Troll posts on here many other times I can only assume the Left WingNut Trolls have run you off their sites so you wish to inject your Fascist point of view onto Conservative Blogs, what could you possibly get from this other than belittled by Conservatives that are willing to do their homework and prove your nonsense wrong and absurd, we already realize Liberals do not think with their minds but with their teeny weenies, must you prove it to us on a daily basis.

Bruce: Only 18?
When I was in the seventh grade there were five girls in my class for every boy. When I was a senior, there were twelve girls and twelve boys.

Almost every other girl had quit school and gotten married because she was pregnant. In fact, one girl had a son who entered first grade the year after I graduate.

Sex is definately evident in all generations. The main difference was then that the girls and boys were expected to get married and have a family where the father supported his wife and children. Now they expect to move out on their own, have as many kids as they want, and have the government support them via Welfare while they enjoy themselves with as many lovers as possible.

I'm Firmly Convince ...
... that most of these new sexual rules they want to teach come from old men who want to have sex with young women. Since most women have a moral outlook that basically restricts them to having sex with a male of their own age with whom they plan to have a family and have a chance of supporting them and said children, this really restricts the number of young women who would be willing to have sex with an old man. But if the girls are convinced to have frequent sex with everyone then the old men have a chance there somewhere. (And before you feminists get excited, I include you as "old men" since you want to have sex with young boys - or young girls as the case may be.)

The trouble is that the majority of parents of young girls aren't interested in providing these "old men" with some young girl for sex. Isn't that just too bad?

Sex is not Education
With teachers and professors being caught at an alarming rate having sex with their students, the clergy on trial for sexually abusing young children and having adulterous affairs, is there any wonder as to why or even how these people would like to reshape our young children’s minds into accepting their vulgar perverted ways of thinking only from the minds of truly sick people can this come or should be an acceptable way of thinking, by far this is the Liberal way of life to reduce young girls to mere objects of their perverted desires, make them think they deserved what happened to them, this is how you advance yourself by doing this for me then I will do this for you, very sick you Liberals are.Sex Education should be removed from our schools period, this as it has turned out is nothing more than a Pandora’s Box once opened has led more youth straight down the road to a subversive culture that has no respect for each other, young women that have multiple children and in most cases cannot even tell you who the child’s father really is, 30,000 abortions performed each and every day STD’s within the age group of 10-18 is at epidemic rates, young men that call themselves players which is a kind word for a pimmp roaming the streets with no education no future no hope, our future is with them our youth we must invest it in other areas and I’m afraid sex education is at the bottom of the list and you freaking perverts need to keep your hands off and your sick minds away from our children.

Alive In Him
It's interesting that the nurse in your school was responsible for ruining the morals in your childhood. I graduated from High School in 1962 and I believe that there were 18 children born to the girls in my class of 325 students during that year. Most of the girls were shipped to Children's Hospital in Denver to stay with their "aunt" for a short three month vacation so that nobody knew about their condition. The next year, the school board put sex education into the 10th grade in an attempt to stem the tide of pregnancies, not to take away the rights of the family or church. It only took a few more years to move sex education down to the 5th grade because they discovered that the kids were having sex at 12 and 13 years of age. Now, did sex education cause more sex, NO! They were already doing it. I think you have to sit down with your mother if she is still alive and ask her about the "roaring 20s". Chances are her mother told her what was going on. Why do you think they were called "roaring", it wasn't all about the stock market. My mother, who's now deceased, told me about sex during her high school years (she graduated in the late 1930s) and it wasn't as tame as you think.

REality Check
What you see in the culture, and find so distressing, results from a confluence of four significant cultural phenomena.

The first is unbridled capitalism. In the free market, sex sells and in the unfettered free market, sex sells to everyone. Sex is an omnipresent factor in the culture because people make money from it.

Second, the digital age ushered in an explosion in communication methods that are at once instantaneous and private. There is simply no way of monitoring the communication behaviors of kids who don't want to be monitored.

The third phenomenon is actually somewhat connected to your paranoias. Women are no longer the property of men who exercise control over their social, sexual, professional and economic lives. It is simply impossible to construct a culture where women have personal and individual control over their social, economic, and professional lives, but somehow adhere to the sexual codes of past world.

The last relates to timing. It is the change in the biology of the age. Women are reaching sexual maturity at ever early ages in their lives. You cannot fight the biology, no matter what you do. Virtually every culture and literature reflect the social problems and concerns resulting from sexual activity at whatever age sexual maturity develops.

The first three are bad enough for you to deal with.... but the fourth pushes all of it into an earlier age bracket than you can handle.

"Sol" and "Un-Balanced" and "John" too
I just LOVE how you guys equate teaching healthy and cautious attitudes toward sex as 'guilting'. You have every right to teach your children as you see fit, but don't seem to agree that I have the right to teach my children according to modest values and personal experience. You are quick to blame modest values for the rampant divorce, STDs and other sexual problems in our society. Yet NONE of these problems have always been at the high rates they are today-it's all come about since the 'progressives' decided it was up to them to 'liberate' everybody from 'Victorian' mores. I was just a kid in the 60's but even so I can remember when divorce was a relative rarity-and coming from a divorced home myself I KNOW how devastating it can be. DH and I are now the married exception rather than the divorced rule-and as they grew up our kids' friends not only marveled but I am sure wished they had such stability in their young lives-it was there to see in their eyes.

FYI, I taught ALL FOUR of my kids not only the physical aspects of sex, but the emotional and psychological perspectives too. I figure that being a responsible mom, I owed them the female angle, hence, they got it. What has been interesting about this thing called parenting is my 14-yr. old daughter's response-she is a modest and dignified little thing and not only is glad to hear her mother say "Not yet" as well as the reasons why, but she thirsts for my support-it confirms her own instinct that her body belongs to God and to her and is not a plaything for horny boys. (I never got anything from my mother but "if you get pregnant, you're out the door!") She is much more secure as a result, knowing her mom has her back.

Mock all you will, but someday you'll grow up and realize that obsessing about your next sexual encounter rather than exhibiting concern over another's well-being is more about enslavement than enlightenment.

Evidence is Rampant in Society
John,

You ask where is Hagelin's evidence? Are you living in a cave? The evidence is readily available. Over a year ago, our local newspaper documented that 25% of young women have an STD. Of that 25%, 10% have more than one STD. Here in California, there are several parents vs. school board fights over homosexual induction disguised as "tolerance education" and maintaining the rights of parents to be notified if their children leave school for a medical appointment. No surprise that the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, and the School Nurses Association all lined up against providing parental notice for children leaving school for a medical appointment. Can you explain how it is not education supporting promiscuity when it takes a concerted effort by parents to maintain basic rights to be informed about what their children are being taught and their chidren's well-being?

Why should Hagelin spend time providing evidence that is out in the public sphere on a daily basis? Her point is to decry the over emphasis on sex and its negative impact on our children and the future health of America's families.

All wrong...
Too late, too late! The damage has been done! Used to be able to say, "ask your Grandma". Now "Grandma" is around 40, wears hotpants, a skimpy top just covering, barely, her enhanced boobs, cusses like sailors used to, lusts after 20-yr old males, and does everything possible to act and look like her 14-yr old granddaughter. There is no more "sane" generation preserving the traditional values.

But don't despair, folks. Soon enough Mr. O will facilitate the arrival of our very own Taliban, and all this "sodom and gomorrah" stuff will disappear in the blood coursing thru our public squares. Granny will be in her burka, Hollywood will be part of the Mojave Desert, the only book will be the Koran, and never again will we get to feast our eyes on the female leg and bosom in all their glory. Then happiness will once again reign throughout the promised land!

To John
You didn't offer proof that it's not.

Based on what I see, her take is closer to the truth that yours. Unless you've got proof to the contrary.

I'll wait.

Tiny Little Omission
I am sure it is an oversight, but HAgelin provided absolutely no evidence or examples to support such spurious claims as "Many educators are obsessed with promoting a promiscuous lifestyle."

But don't let the 100% absence of any evidence or support for her absurd claims bother you right wing paranoids. Just keep believing whatever they tell you.

"Your problem about sex is all too obvious. Listen to what you are saying:
"birth control pills offered the jaded advantage of sex without the "dangers" of unwanted pregnancies".

They also allowed a sexual explosion in the 60's and 70's that led to society-wide plague of STDs.
Yours is the idea that, rather than behaving less swinishly, we would all be better off just feeling less guilty about our swinish behavior. Not that there's anything wrong with swine (bacon is great), but you prefer to ignore the cost.

We Need To Take A Stand
My question is this: How long are the Christians of this nation going to let Satan prey upon our children. This is just another example of government controling the laws that effect each and everyone of us. We have state after state passing laws to affirm same sex marriage, homosexuals adopting children, passing laws making it easier to get abortions, and civil liberty organizations pushing God further and further from the lives of the citizens of this country. Are we to standby and let those few in government dictate to the 300 million American citizens what is Godly and what isn't? We as Christians from all denominations have to come together and decide what God wants for this country and go to the voting polls and vote for God. It is time immorally, greed, and corruption be removed and replaced with morality, Christianity, and the laws of God; as our forefathers had intended when they used the Bible to guide them as they wrote the documents to guide this country's future. The Declaration of Independence, United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. houseoftherisenson.net

Where are we headed?
Has anyone done a study correlating the rise in child abuse to the increase in abortion? For many, child abuse is simply “post-partum” abortion. And while comprising such statistics, what do we do with babies who survive abortions but are put in hospital closets until they die? Would that be classified as abortions or child abuse?

Men
The entire trend will disappear by fixing the marginalizing of men

Wonderfully said!

Sad, but true.
So sad, but true. I thought as parents we tried hard to breathe good, solid values on our daughters. But, one has been utterly lost to the evils of our culture. If I could have another chance at raising her, there are probably a few things I would correct on my part, but am not sure it really would have made a difference. It is so very difficult to be parents and children in these times. It certainly takes a very brave and strong young person these days to take the high road and rise above all the lies that are so destructive. But, parents keep on trying anyway.

No Sex Objects!
Didn't the feminists once decry seeing women merely as sex objects?

Why aren't they screaming in outrage against a culture that, more than any time in the past, to be sex objects. A culture that teaches girls that they should not only be objects of sexual lust -- and to be sure to dress as alluringly as possible at all times -- but that they should act as unpaid wh*res for any man who asks for a "hookup"?

Come on, feminists, is a generation of girls lying on their backs in the road in an open invitation to be taken by all comers really what you had in mind when you demanded equality?

Assault
Make no mistake, this is an assault on our sons too. Our sons feel pressure not only from the media and adults around them, but from girls their age as well, to be sexualized well before they are ready, mentally and physically. our CHILDREN are the victims, not just our daughters!

Pull them the heck out people!

sol and balanced
Sure, we'll tell them that. That's what people like you have been telling them for years. That's why sexually transmitted diseases - once the province only of prostitutes, pimps, johns, and relentlessly unfaithful men, are now rampant among teens - one in four now has an STD. Want one? You wouldn't get on an elevator with those odds, but you want our kids to spread them around to each other.

HPV is connected to cervical, and now head and neck cancers. But hey! Promiscuous sexuality is "fun"! Babies naturally come from sex, and teens aren't ready for babies. But so what? Sex is "natural," and you can always abort your own children. That's called "evolution"! That's what makes US the more advanced species!

People like you want to encourage the most destructive of "natural" behaviors when those behaviors are sexual. But it's also human nature to lie, cheat, and steal, and yet you want expensive and complex federal agencies put in place to prevent corporations from doing it. Why? Why not let them be "natural" and have their fun?

It's "natural" to get sick and die, but you think we should take money forcibly from other people to take care of you and the other people you encourage to make silly and dangerous "life choices." Why? If you want to be "natural" and f*ck everything that walks, why should I pay for it when you get sick from it?

Homeschool
You don't want to hand your healthcare over to the government - why on earth would you hand your children over to them?

Free love and drugs
Sadly this belief may have been founded during my generation of the Post WWII baby boom.
I can remember when birth control pills offered the jaded advantage of sex without the "dangers" of unwanted pregnancies with all its responsibities and alterations of life for those who had addopted a lifestyle of free living outside the norm of moral society. And the evils of murder by abortion even made things worse.
Sadly sexual relationships are trumpeted as the be-all and end-all of any relationship between man and woman and we've become nothing more than some animal who is doing nothing more than searching for another creature for individual gratification without the consequences of our actions. But the consequences are there, both moral and otherwise.
Disease, moral and destruction and financial destruction lead the list.
A momentary of "blissful" self gratification leads to a lifetime of hardships and sadness.

SOL
Wonderfully said.

The truth, and the power and, often, wiser decisions that come from it, is the only way.

Many kids who are 'guilted' about their sexuality often rebel and make silly choices.

In my hometown, when I was a teen, it was well-known that the promiscuous girls could be found at the all-girl's Catholic school. Obviously, 'protecting' them from sex education wasn't working too well.

I just don't get these fanatics on this issue. My kid has had age-appropriate sex ed in his school and it has led to great conversations between he and I on the issue. He is informed, knowledgeable about the science of it as well as the more spiritual component, and will make more sound judgments in the future as a result.

Anywho...

Thirty-plus years ago
even in our conservative small town, the 'progressive' sex-ed 'values' were being taught. At the time, we needed parental permission to take the class 'Family Living' because this 'chapter' was part of the package. Now, I understand such stuff is mandatory in many if not most places, and is explicit beyond belief.

I will never forget Mrs Taylor, a devout Mormon lady, having to tell our class she couldn't say anything one way or the other about promoting virtue (that's judgmental, you see) but the county health dept nurse who came in made no bones about telling us that we could go see her in perfect confidence, that our parents need never know their precious children (for at 17 such we certainly were) could obtain not only condoms but could receive powerful drugs such as birth control pills and devices like IUD's so they could 'discover' their sexuality on their own terms, rather than on Mom and Dad's or the church's. We were certainly never taught of the emotional or psychological implications of uncommitted sex, only that avoiding pregnancy was the 'responsible' aspect of it.

It doesn't take half an hour to educate kids about the birds and the bees-people have known since the dawn of history what makes babies. What does take time and careful phrasing is the undermining of parental and church values. This is why liberals are convinced they are the ones to teach our children about the most profound and life-altering part of the human experience they'll ever know- they know it takes time to convince the kids that sex is nothing more than an itch to be scratched, a recreational tool that has no deeper meaning for people than it does for fleas. After all, why else is the avoidance of pregnancy/disease their first and often the only priority?
