The total amount of bailout money that has been distributed under Obama is about $1 trillion. The controversial bonuses paid out to top AIG executives sits at $165 million.

Obama ordered Giethner to "pursue every legal avenue" to block these bonuses – meaning Geithner is supposed to concentrate on what amounts to less than one half of one percent of what he's ultimately responsible for.

I’m not thrilled about millions going to executives who don’t deserve it. But in light of AIG's legal obligations, and in light of the bailout being such a gigantic fraud to begin with, worrying about the bonuses seems like a very expedient distraction.
