Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

In April of 2007, two groups at Michigan State University (MSU) decided to host a speech on illegal immigration. The speech was disrupted by radicals. Some arrests were made. As a result, some protestors decided to retaliate by going to the MSU Office for Inclusion. They claimed to have been harassed in violation of the MSU anti-discrimination policy.

The Office for Inclusion then decided to launch a six-month investigation of all members of the two groups who invited the speaker. They also decided to investigate the two faculty advisors. This was despite the school’s claim that its anti-discrimination policy was not meant to trump free speech.

The investigation concluded that no further action was required. But those investigated disagreed. They were outraged that the policy could be used to launch long-term investigations of conservatives simply for articulating conservative principles. And they knew the policy could be used to create a chilling effect on constitutionally protected expression.

The MSU anti-discrimination policy is problematic for three reasons: 1) It assumes “protected classes” are victims as if rights belong to groups, not individuals 2) it makes the accused demonstrate his innocence, and 3) it holds speakers responsible for “feelings” of “harassment” experienced by those who chose to listen to ideas contrary to their own.

The administration of MSU relies on secrecy and fear to empower its Orwellian policies. Meanwhile, a bold new group is taking them on. The Conservative Faculty and Staff at MSU have decided to fight the administration in a very public manner. They have announced to the administration that they will be a force for ensuring that open enquiry survives and thrives in East Lansing.

Professor Fred Fico established the group (cfsatmsu@gmail.com) in September of 2008 under the mission statement: To protect and defend the values articulated in the Declaration of Independence here at Michigan State University.

Nearly every university in America needs such a chapter to respond to the attempts of far left administrators, faculty, and students with an agenda to deny free speech to conservatives. Such attempts - whether made through speech codes or anti-discrimination policies – are meant to deny conservatives a platform to debate important issues. Such issues including affirmative action, gun control, and illegal immigration, need a balanced presentation in higher education.

The MSU Conservative Faculty and Staff are defending freedom by boldly exercising it themselves. They are doing it in four principal ways:

1. Defending students and faculty whose free speech rights are being denied.

2. Advocating for students who wish to speak freely against ideological indoctrination in classes.

3. Educating the university community by inviting appropriate speakers to campus to speak on issues of vital importance to America.

4. Speaking out on these issues themselves before members of the university community.

I was thrilled when the group asked me to come to MSU as the first speaker for their fine organization. I was even more thrilled when Professor Fico gave me a brochure that spelled out the four principal beliefs of the new organization. They are as follows:

1. We believe that God, not the state, is the Author of our freedom.

2. We believe that individuals, not groups, have rights.

3. We believe that the right to life enables all other rights.

4. We believe that freedom requires rights of ownership and use of property.

For years, I have been fighting a war against moral relativism, socialism, and identity politics on college campuses. Many times during the struggle I have felt very alone and discouraged. But, now, I realize that the effort is beginning to pay off. Professors are beginning to stand up for our nation in proud defense of our God-given liberties. And they are doing so at a time when those liberties are in unprecedented jeopardy.

To all conservative faculty and staff members around the country I say the following: If you have ever considered standing up against the tide of political correctness in defense of your nation and your liberties, please, do it now. We need you more than ever.

lilly the senile hater of america
of course old fools like you want to believe thaqt people prefer communism and socialism over real freedom but that's because witrh your hatred of america you believe bigger gov't is the answer to everything.

And now we are stuck with your love object the utterly clueless messiah, who is nothing more than the willing b*tch of the unions who know they bought and paid for his allegiance.

Plus his association with acorn and being a firm adherent of the commie saul alinsky is even more reason why you willingly prostrate yourself in his presence.

But the messiah is the answer to all those too stupid and too lazy to take care of themselves, the same kind of losers you claim to champion.

But just because you are that stupid that you want socialism under the acting dictator, b hussein obamarxist doesn't mean the rest of us are happy with the fool.

But we are still waiting for you to justify the even largert deficits under your new love object, the messiah.

Funny how old hypocrites like you railed against bush when he ran a $200 billion deficit but let your dictator b hussein run up a deficit of $2.5 trillion and you can't stop singing his praises.

The dims have controlled the federal purse strings for the past 2 years and piglosi and corrupt l;and deal grew the deficit by some $700 and now we have the dimmed passed tart, the dim passed porkzilla, the supplemental spending bill and the mortgage bailout and his $3.5 trillion budget and the country is looking at derficits exceeding trillions every year flap ears is in office.

But who is going to pay the bill and what will the country do wqhen hyper inflation sets in. But even though flap ears destroys the economy, you will be still prostrating yourself in front of him.

Lilly typical leftist, but just another hypocrite

To Lilly
Saw you on a liberal site bragging about your rabble-rousing techniques utilized here in TH. That is fine and dandy you are entitled to your opinion and beliefs, but not everyone has to agree with them.

I respectfully ask that you not come in here and espouse your ideas and beliefs without regard to most of us in here. I have no fear of being converted, simply because I know who I am, believe in who I am and am fulfilled by a belief in God. It is the emptiness and the void created by a Godless nature that leads to indecision and a need for fulfillment given by any offering.

Your ramblings have no standing here. We will not be converted and not because of ignorance, but because of Devine Wisdom.

God Bless You

Lilly.....
You are making Mike's point.

The liberal "useful idiots" in the universities and many other institutions not only refuses to listen to the conservative voices and engage them in constructive dialog. They shout down conservative speakers, calling them bigots, homophobes, and downhill from there. The university staff and faculty enable the supression of conservative thought and expression. Note the UNC debacle when Tancredo was invited to speak. It is not conservatives who are afraid to enter into dialog, but the liberals, socialists, communists....wait, I repeat myself!

Your assertion that some of the people around the world prefer socialism is in fact true. Like Kim Jong Il, the Castro brothers, various Latin merican dictators and...surprise...our own pipsqueak in chief. That does not is any way mean that the people they rule want that kind of leadership, it simply means that the repressive governments so tightly control the population that the people have no voice. Wait, isn't that what we have just been talking about at our own universities?

Lilly
The point of the article is exactly what you say, except the problem is not "conservatives", it's the liberals running our college campuses (and may other institutions these days).

To 45 caliber
Start with this. 150 years ago John Stuart Mill said, "He who knows only his own case knows little of that." His advice was to find the best spokesman for the opposition and go to school to him "because that will teach us the weaknesses in our own argument" (which, presumably, shows us how to strengthen our argument). All of us have taken courses espousing a philosophy we didn't agree with, but if a course is taught from the perspective that "this is wrong and we are already right" then what it is is, propaganda.

Exploring, say, Communism or Socialism, with an open mind means hearing why some millions of the earth's people LIKE that form of government. A sociology course might involve reading the work of somebody who thinks that polygamy or communal marriage beats our usual system---that doesn't mean we convert. Listening with respect to those with different ideas is called "getting an education". Trying to see their point of view is called "interesting". Somebody posted on townhall about a month ago that tolerating gays might tempt people into being gay. Some conservatives believe that sex education leads to sexual experimentation. What all of this is saying is "I am so unsure of who I am that anybody who comes along can convert me so, to be safe, I dare not listen to any of them---I have to keep them all far away from me." If you know who you are, you are safe to travel, and travel is broadening.

There must be mistake here somewhere
People, don't you know that in most universities, speech is only allowed when you agree with what the PC crowd is mouthing at the time. How dare these students say anything that is not PC. I tell you what, it serves the universities right for even allowing the PC crowd to get a foot hold in these universities. I do believe that it's time for the rest of the students to have an a$$ kicking party.

A Misunderstanding
Jeff in MN ... Dr Adams has pointed out in the past that his objections are directed at those institutions that are funded by us. "The workplace" is too broad. Many workplaces are private property. Activities which may be considered discriminatory in a public institution, may simply be an owner's preference on private property, targeted discrimination aside.

Warrior in AL ... Physical and violent action? You're hereby voted off the reality show you think you're on, buddy.

Proud of Young Republicans at MSU
The young republicans at MSU have had a very hard time. They are the victims of radical liberal though police at every turn, being harrased and vandalized, and every time a conservative speaker is brought in he can not be heard over the chanting of the liberal mobs present. When they protest to the administration they have a lengthy investigation that takes at least 6 months and usually reach an inconclusive verdict. This is common on most college campuses due to the liberal training of college teachers. I dont know of a conservative teaching school.

More looney lefties
Obviously H.D. is on LSD (or some other powerful mind-numbing drug). What an incoherant rant.

And Beastie Boy, while presenting no facts what-so-ever, mindlessly spews hatred of Christians, proving much of what Dr. Adams presents in many of his columns about the PC thought police.

Hey BB, isn't spewing mindless hate (the way you did in your post) a sign of being a sociopath? Your uninformed and bigoted opinion proves YOU to be the hypocrite in this situation.

Duke Lacrosse
People should never forget what happened to the clearly innocent Duke lacrosse players at the hands of the faculty. The professors who called the innocent students vile names were not punished at all. Campuses are so radical it is pathetic -- you are not allowed to profess certain viewpoints unless you want to risk being thrown out of school. Few professors who are moderates or conservatives are hired. Indeed, even a mainstream liberal professor (like KC Armstrong -- a Harvard graduate) who expresses views against "political correctness" will not receive employment opportunties. Even stating rhentorical questions (like Lawrence Summers) will cause you to be terminated from University employment.

carlos
my friend, when are you going to understand that the dims sole reason for existence is to reward the parasites for their wasted lives and poor decision making processes.

For the dims, running the entitlement plantation and rewarding losers is their ticket to getting re elected.

But the problem remains as long as they are spending your tax dollars they don't care.

But how will detroit handle things when it occurs to the messiah, that with it's huge number of vacant homes and a well placed welfare system it will make the perfect dumping ground to keep the parasites away from his elitist pals who object to seeing the down and out

Constitutional rights
Political correctness does not have any place in a free society. It's time for REAL Americans to take back this country as well as the college campuses.

I am Happy to know...

That a revolt is underway - and in Michigan of all places.

Most of Michigan's residents are law-abiding Conservatives. Yet their vote is High-jacked by Metro Detroit's Democrat haters, and spat upon by Liberal Republicans.

Michigan's taxes are squandered in the endless struggle of Democrats to distribute welfare as a means to purchase a tainted voting majority.

The Democrats have "Spent all of our Money".

Lepanto
Standing up against Political Correctness in all its varying forms on any college or university campus in the United States takes massive "Cajones".

The left has had only 10 years short of a century to build and fortify Thought Control on American campuses. The built in safeguards for PC are enormous. Tenure is only the tip of it.

Every "Chair" defines a rigidly held Fiefdom and don't you ever forget it. Every campus is loaded with committees for this and committees for that and you don't get one damn thing done without about three or more committee approvals.

Do I have to describe who sits on and chairs those committees?

This veritable Hydra (Greek) has become very practiced at growing as many heads when and where needed to maintain control.

God Bless you young conservatives and professors. You are taking on a task of monumental proportions. Be prepared for many a "bloody nose". This will not get done without scars at best complete professional disfigurement at worst.

PC is Thought Control
LEE

Fear
More evidence that the left fears open and honest debate

Powerful, Important Stuff
This is one of the most important articles on TownHall in recent memory. The survival of free speech on America's campuses, and to a large extent all of America, depends on the robust push-back from the conservative minority in higher education. The truth of conservative principles is so powerful that many young minds will immediately be engaged by it and they will become proseletizers.

Keep the faith, Mike!!

JohnR22
You couldn't have said it better.

Kudos to you.

Thank God some Faculty are Fighting Back
This takes real courage at a place like MSU.

A few radicals drive Adams nuts?
Here goes another one of those self declared conservatives, scared by mosquitos, in a figure of speech, and making a big deal about something that happened almost two years ago, while comfortable with George W. shooting the world to pieces who doesn't give a hoot about illegals, while even accomodating them, as more illegals entered during his reign, than ever before.

I am speaking as a legal, yes as a legal immigrant of 53+ years and have been furious over many decades seeing this influx of illegals, with so called conservaive patriots hiring them and even the nation itself accomodating them by making Spanish equal to English.

Yes, born Americans have simply sold America to the lowest bidder. Yes, it is, that I have voted for Ron Paul, here in California as a write-in candidate, the man that defended the US Constitution which offended, mind you, many of these self declared conservatives.

Yes, one of them even offering to pay for the bullets to shoot those who are supporting Ron Paul! Please ask Michael Reagan who that one conservative was?

Yes, 9/11 made in America by America for America in the shop of complete and absolute lawlessness/anarchy with the Commander in Chief its foreman.

Diversity
I am a 'much' older student attending a university. I enjoy taking classes so i have been going part-time for more than 20 years. It is amazing how left all of the professors are. I took a class on Shakespeare's tragedies and the prof had us read a lot of articles by PHd profs. Everything we read for this class explained all of Shakespeare's tragedies as being about homosexuality. It was a scream to read about why Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, killed herself. Several of these articles we read outside the text explained that Juliet commited suicide because she couldn't 'bear the construct of a heterosexual marriage.' ie, he couldn't bear being married to a man. But, didn't she think he was dead when she commited suicide? There is a lot of stuff that we have to write about that really doesn't make sense. I took a biology class which discussed evolution and it appeared that all of the students agreed with it. Then, when I took a genetics class online we talked a lot about evolution on the discussion page. You would be amazed how many students stated, from the anonimity of being online, that they believed in God and didn't believe in evolution. I think that the students are bullied into thinking that they are the only 'dumb' ones that don't believe the liberal line.

Problematic
This is a good piece, but please look up the definition of "problematic". It doesn't mean "it is a problem" but rather more like "it is controversial or debatable".

Dr Douglas
Finally he answers back. Good job! You are slowly learning how to post. BTW, I read very well. Do you want me to go and reference several threads where you failed to answer after your initial inane comment.

Praise with the right, damn with the
left.

Still Dr. Adams doesn't get his title, and Douglas tells us what the column isn't, thereby damning the prior columns. He makes one criticism but includes no praise.

Equivalent movie review from Douglas:

Best so far from this sort-of director - no overexposed scenes and grainy film like the last movie, and one shot is slightly out of focus - yeah, best so far. Keep it up director; you are learning.

Yeehaw
So refreshing to see great news like this! Hopefully others will be inspired to do the same on their campuses. Thanks Dr. Adams.

Yahoo!
Glad to hear it. I just wrote a paper on the quality of democracy in Latin America comparing Venezuela and Chavez to the US and Obama. Lots of similarities. I'm sure the professor's blood will boil when he reads it, but I don't care. I've never gotten less than a B on a paper, if I get less than a B on this one, it will only be because of the professor's narrow-mindedness and dedication to thought control.

Way to go!
Very proud to see someone standing up and so many encouraging it!

Great message
Dr Adams,

I applaud you for your message today. I find it to be one of the best you've ever written. Being employed Criminal Justice field for past 30 years, I see first hand how our Constitutional Rights are being slowly bled away from the Constitution. The blame for this are the liberal, politically correct and "if it feels good do it" rulings/directives from the Federal Courts as well as the real hate groups in American: The Radical left. The use of the word hate can be used both ways, both by the left and the right.

If we are to survive as a Christian Nation(yes, we still are) we must fight Satan and his forces. If we are to remain free from tyranny, we must band together and protect our rights that our predacessor fought so hard to preserve, and of those who continue to do so today.

A LINE IN THE SAND
It seems as though the Conservatives are finally taking off the gloves, if MSU is a example then so to is the seemingly silly fight by Ms. Prejean of Ms. California fame.

The prejudice lies and bias brought forth from a group of slobbering vindictive sodomites and feminist in order to supress her rights to express her opinion and thought in a free manner after it was sought is one of the most disgraceful incidents ever to be allowed in this country. Had it not been for Trump and his own strong opinion and final word, this young lady would have had a much more difficult time overcoming the dictatorial, suppressive efforts of the left.

It takes hard work, strong dedicated thought to over come the damage that has been inflicted by the left on freedom. Keep up the good work.

ADloggy
Can't read very well, can you.

SFA1973
I officially retired in 2006.

Dr. Adams
Yes, yes and yes!! Keep your excellent efforts on track. As you are well aware, they are sorely needed in today's politically correct, ideologically skewed academic environment.

Kudos to MSU conservative faculty!
Evil prevails when good men remain silent. Way to go, MSU Conservatives!

Wild Bill......
Evil retreats when forcibly confronted... but you have to KEEP making it retreat. It's not all that different from dealing with dandruff.......

Great Comparison LOL!

Liberals can also be considered as about 1/2 a step above a child......they have to be told time and time and time again that they are wrong....they have to be corrected time and time and time again.......otherwise they develop bad habits....things they started because no one made them stop.....

Big comedy
Here in Michigan.........
we have an economy brought on by the government that is causing private industry to cut expenses, employees, benefits, etc, etc...or go out of business....and we have a government organization that gives no second thought to running budgets up just so that they can assure their own survival.

Granholm was re-elected a few years back on a "no tax increase" platform.....
AND
she promptly thanked the citizens of the state by implementing a tax increase.......

The biggest joke of all is that granmasta O invited here to DC to discuss..of all things....the economy.

As if that girl knows anything outside of being a lawyer.......

And the laborers in Michigan....sucking on closures of plant after plant after plant.....continue to be extorted for money so that the union bosses can go advance their political agenda.........

As a former 13 year resident
of East Lansing, it's nice to go through the day now without having to interact with a bunch of guilt-ridden, angry liberals. In the largely conservative and religious community in which I live now, people actually smile and display a genuinely selfless attitude. Funny how realizing that it's not all about you has a way of effecting your entire outlook on life.

Mike Adams
Send Mike to the White House!!!

Compare and Contrast
It is rather funny to watch the left, when one compares the rhetoric they used to get Angela Davis into the University of California and now. Opionions were so important then that we needed her to instruct the best and brightest how to have an open mind.

Blue Michigan's Economic Logic
via Granholm and Company.

MSU was renting a building to the State for $1.00 a year. MSU decided it needed the building and thus evicted the State. Michigan ends up spending $90,000,000 taxroll on a new building (not that there are no empty buildings sitting anywhere that wouldve served their needs), used prevailing wage bids (to keep the unions fat) on the project thus costing the projecta about 15-20% MORE than competitive bids woud've generated.

Meanwhile....the State also spent $9,000,000 on training some State Police Officers and cant hire any of them. Florida is taking a few of them along with a big THANK YOU CARD to Michigan taxpayers.

Just the tip.

Maybe Obama can find a spot for Granholm. Michigan can only hope for that change.

A good sign...
This is great news. I hope Professor Fico's brave stand spreads to other campuses - including the one near us, the University of Colorado at Boulder, the home of Ward Churchill ("There is no truth."). Hopefully, at least one Conservative remains on staff there, and can prove that "truth" still exists.

Communist Philosophy
When I was in college, we had a teacher who was Communist. At that time it was acceptable for a college to fire such people so he kept it hidden.

I had a class on philosophy under this professor. It turned out that there was also a student in class who was also Communist. The first day the professor stated that we had to study certain people but would be unable to study all of them in the single semester. He gave us a choice of Karl Marx or two others we had never heard about. We all chose Marx since the Communists speak of him as their father.

The professor and the student would work together to generate questions the professor would ask the class. The student would then expound on how wonderful Communism was. I really enjoyed that class since it was easy to make him and his arguments look ridiculous. (Those were the days when you had to listen to your opponent, not scream him down.)

I learned a lot that insured that I'd never be a Communist. At the end of the course, the professor was fired when the story all came out.

It is too bad they can't still be fired. But it was "unfair" to these poor people to deprive them of an income so they could reindoctrinate the kids. And we have the liberals as a result now.

MSU on the right track.
MSU Spartans? Time to bring out the sword of truth and ram it deep into the enemy of Socialistic and Communistic philosophies that have been permeating the schools of higher learning. Professors advocating these doctrines should be dismissed regardless of tenure with loss of all benefits.

Good to see Adams
plug this group at MSU. These guys are in the middle of a blue state surrounded by blue as far as the eye can see.

There is some Red though. Maybe they can get some support from Hilldale College just an hours drive south of East Lansing. Hillsdale is a premium conservative school. They get zero Federal taxroll money, have many many conservatives give speeches for their imprimis forum digest, and they get a grade F (really bad) for Green Campus Buildings by some lefty group that actually judges colleges on how "green" they are.

Michigan doesnt entirely stink.

Immigration laws

We discriminate against Germans, Poles, Russians, Indonesians, etc etc by making them go through immigration and obey our laws.

We let Mexicans come in illegally against our laws and who knows else with them with consequences on jobs, crime, social services expenses etc etc

And then you are called racist if you say anything. What about other nationalties? What about just following laws we have in place? We need high fence charged with electricity. We are stupid for letting our government ignore laws.

Oneyedman
Thats great advice! I am blessed to have a work environment that has libs & cons who have thoughtful discussions (sometimes animated) about current affairs with no problems with our employer. No one wears any stupid Obama t-shirts and we all get along fine.

Everyone is not so lucky. People, especially cons need to watch thier backs.

Some editing
The fact that these faculty recognize that individual liberty is the primary vehicle for true equality, and that recognizing 'protected groups' is inherently unequal (See Brown vs Board of education decision: separate can never be equal) IS VERY ENCOURAGING.

Sorry, I was interrupted several times while composing this.

Hope
I've speculated for some time now that when counter-culture or sub-culture becomes mainstream culture, traditional culture will become the new counter-culture challenging the new status quo, something a great many college students won't be able to resist as they explore their new-found independence.
New associations and societies are already springing up on many campuses.

The fact that these faculty recognize that individual liberty is the primary vehicle for true equality, and that recognizing 'protected groups' is inherently unequal (See Brown vs Board of education decision: separate can never be equal). I know most hardcore libs will tell you that this case is an entirely different issue, namely racial segregation, I would counter that this decision implies that the government has no authority under the constitution to give special rights or protection to ANY group, racial/ethnic, religious, ideological, etc..., over another. As I've said many times before on these threads, Our constitution enumerates and recognizes the rights of INDIVIDUALS, not groups.
This is why the opponents of abolitionists tried, unsuccessfully, to argue that slaves were a lower form of humanity that whites, therefore the constitution did not apply to them. They took this tack because they knew that if African's were equal in their status as human beings, than the institution of slavery was unconstitutional on its face. Precisely BECAUSE it was decided (naturally) that Africans indeed were human equals to whites, the 13th and 14th amendments could not specifically recognize Africans at all, but must apply to ANY race.

Sending your kid to College
Check out "Chosing the Right College: 2008-2009: The Whole Truth about America's Top Schools". An excellent resource overall, but especially in reponse to the politcal climate on campuses. It only covers only 100 schools, but I believe that there is a referenced website where you can look up additional schools. Have found it most helpful in our college search for our daughter.

DR. Adams
Keep up the good work. The leftist in the collages need to be pushed back. I believe it was Bill Bennett I heard say "Only two thing matter, Who teaches the children, and what they teach.". He was quoting someone else, but I forgot who, But the point is the same. Every leftist has some varieation of this on his mind. They know, and we should fight back.
Thank you, again
Kirk

About time the revolt moved on to campus
As an MSU alum and long-time board member of a fraternity at MSU, we seek to provide leadership and learning opportunities that teach students personal responsibility. It's wonderful to read that some of our educators share similar values and we will seek to support these efforts.

Thank You Dr. Adams
Dr Adams,

I've been pleasantly surprised by the volume of articles you've written recently. You're really on a roll. We appreciate all that you do. Thanks, and we look forward to even more.

Don't interrupt when I shout you down
The sane and lucid can think for themselves, while allowing others the same freedom. Radicals would deny others this right, so if they don't like what one is saying, they feel free to shout one down, denying any alternative to their radical views.

On the other hand, this "exposure" of the "radical temperament" probably says more about their inability to provide rational, well-reasoned arguments than their "views." Brevity is the soul of wit, not merely labeling anyone who disagrees as "Hitler," the usual suspects, etc.

(This is pretty much an easy way for radicals to stop any rational thought from being presented. It's okay to offend others...as long as others don't offend radicals. Sounds rather megalomanic, doesn't it?)

But such events are so common they may as well have their own TV show. Plenty of material! Of course, I suspect that normal people would get their fill of such a show after about 15 minutes (tops) of the first episode.

Are radicals a viable demographic? Somehow, I doubt it. If they were, they wouldn't have to shout down dissenting opinions, while dissent is the raison d'etre of the radical left, anyway. Okay for me, but not for thee.

I'm not offended; annoyed perhaps.

Jeff - Maybe Not At Work
This is still America and you do have the "right" to express lovingly what you believe.

Jeff, I understand (no, let me go further - I empathize) with your frustration regarding lib policies and force "correct" (in their eyes) conduct in the workplace. But unless you have a government job, I would caution against expressing your opinion in that setting. Remember, brother, the First Amendment protects you only from government action, not the action of a private party, such as an employer. Just a thought given that times are tough and alternate employment may be hard to find.

time to step up?
And who is going to protect us from political harassment by the administration?

And what about those of us with families to support who would like to get promoted or get merit raises?

Go East Lansing!
Thanks for the column. I remember those protests in 2007. I am so glad to hear another voice for a change on this campus. Thanks for bringing cfsatmsu to my attention! Every campus should start such a group. It's lonely out there, but I think it's because we lay low, tired of the ridicule by the outspoken left who are only too happy to deny conservatives their free speech.

A MUST read!

Michigan; soon to be Wyoming
During the 60s, MSU was a hot-bed of student radicalism...just behind Cal-Berkeley. Not suprising as Michigan is one of the most consistently liberal states in the union.

Not surprising also that Michigan's economy has ranked dead last (50 out of 50) for many years now and is steadily losing their best people...as they move to find work. The state will eventually be down to a few electoral votes, like Wyoming.

Many blame it on the demise of the auto industry, but a major factor is that Big Labor owns the state and the consistently democrat government is hostile to business. Why on earth would any company locate in Michigan when there are so many other attractive options...primarily in the South?

tea parties
Are the non academic protests, and the facists are getting nervous. You will notice in the coming months their hateful vicious attacks will get worse. They will attack anyone that espouses conservative values.Watch how they are going to react to Dick Cheney speaking out. Go Dick Go

Tgator, great! That from the Dept. of
Redundancy Dept. Oops, I offended myself. Time for 20 lashes with a wet noodle.

SFA1973
Just a shout out to you from a SFA 1980 grad. My wife was born and raised in Nac.

BTW, DR Dougie won't respond. He does a drive by out of spite and then leaves. Ignore him.

Dr. Dougie
When did you retire as a Professor?

Hooray
for a little courage.

Doctor Adams
You have never been alone, only braver than your peers. Now that these codes are getting out of hand, more and more cowtowed faculty will speak out against the facism and socialism prevalent in our public colleges and universities. People with values and principles must fight fire with fire. Complain that your feelings have been hurt, you have been harrassed and offended and take the schools to court. They will always settle out of court and you can take a portion of that settlement and donate it to groups like F.I.R.E. to help fund further law suits. There is ample legal precedence on freedom of speech and assembly. Soon administrators will be afraid to offend conservatives and we will be a victim group. :-)

A very good CD
There is a VERY GOOD CD on this topic, "Relativism and Her Three Ugly Sisters", that every conservative should hear, even if you are not religious [just ignore the very small part that talks about religion].

Call lefties Fascists
Drive lefties nuts by reminding them Mussolini and Hitler were both socialists first.

I'm so offended
If anything I've said has offended you, I am sorry, BUT I am offended that you are offended. In fact I am more offended that you are offended than you are offended. So you must STOP being offended because it offends me.

Nothing in the constitution says you have the right to not be offended, so please exercise your rights and be offended and leave me alone.

THERE MUST BE SOME MISTAKE!

A group named "The Conservative Faculty And Staff" is on a college campus!? In America!!??
There must be some mistake.

HOW LONG BEFORE......

Janeane Garofalo arrives in Michigan and proclaims, "These racist, rotten, no good college conservatives must be stopped!"

MSNBC reports, "A conservative group causing trouble on the campus of MSU has been an on-going problem. Keith Olbermann has news that a dangerous, southern college professor, Mike Adams, is supporting the trouble makers. Keith, give us the details".

Obama holds a press conference and states all college and universities will be bailed out "except those with the group, The Conservative Faculty And Staff, on campus".

Pendulum
Good picture for false hope. There is no pendulum--it takes action to achieve change. Talk will not do it. No man could have talked Hitler out of power. If you are stuck on stupid and believe there is some magic pendulum out there swinging to make your life better, consider this: the pendulum's hang point has skewed so far left that it's greatest swing to the right no longer will even reach the moderate center. All change and expected change will be to the radical left. Physical and violent ACTION is the only way to force CONSERVATIVE change.

A Round of Applause,
Here's a round of applause for the faculty and students who brave the left-liberal, college establishment in this way -- putting GPA and tenure at risk from the vindictive lefties in power.

A Line In The Sand
Kudos to those who have drawn it. The first two things that every tyrant does is suppress free speech and disarm the populace.

Bear in mind the words of John Ervine:
"Every man should be periodically compelled to listen to opinions which are infuriating to him. To hear nothing but what is pleasing to one is to make a pillow of the mind."

Fight back
Jeff is on the right track, but we need to go further than that. We need to challenge liberal ideology at any possible time. For too long we've let it go unchecked in hopes that the public would see what we see and act accordingly. Unfortunately our current situation is the price of our lack of action. It's time that we all do our research and be able to refute any and all of the classic liberal arguments (I would recommend George Reisman's political/economic blog, great essays) and take this fight to the streets.

Well, I'll be darned...

Conservatives actually fighting back... and standing up for their God-given rights?

What's next... a National awakening of our entire voting electorate???

Beeeeeep beeeeep...!!!

What's that?

Darn, it's the morning alarm.

Oh, well. It was a nice dream.

Now, where's that snooze button?

Zzzzzz...

About time conservatives realized...
Evil retreats when forcibly confronted... but you have to KEEP making it retreat. It's not all that different from dealing with dandruff...

Too little, too late?
Most of our institutions and schools have been overtaken by rabid and activist leftists. Their indoctrination of the youth has proven to be far more effective than was similar schooling in the former Eastern Block countries.
I think that we should allow the market place distill the good schools from indoctrinating once. For example, I examine transcripts of new job applicants for executive position(s), to see what teachers were involved in forming the students knowledge. Graduates from some schools I don't even consider for employment.

Well said
This is a good start. Pat Buchanan was on Hannity yesterday and though I'm not a fan of Buchanan he made a goood point. He said we have to go looking for a fight on principal. I couldn't agree more, it's time to go to the mat here and stand up for our beliefs. Lord knows we have been forced to listen to liberals scream and complain about theirs for years. NOTHING is more important than free speech. . . one of the steps here will be to roll back any and ALL hate crime legislation.

And...Take Back The Workplace!
Depending on who is in control of your company, it too is trying to silence "free speech". I am tired of being hauled into the "Principals" office, so to speak because someone overheard something I said and their "feelings" were hurt. This is still America and you do have the "right" to express lovingly what you believe. The "cost" can be high" as stated above. Start speaking out and let God handle the details.
Thank you Dr. Adams for another great essay! Keep on Brother!

Everyone should value
FREE SPEECH. You don't have to like what someone says, but you must let them say it. Then, perhaps call them a dummy commie.

And conservatives have been silent TOO LONG!

KUDOS to East Lansing and the Conservative Faculty and Staff at MSU! Show the others the way to do it!

Dr. Douglas
just can't help himself: It would appear to be a love-hate relationship with Dr. Adams. He disagrees with most of what Dr. Adams writes yet he somehow feels compelled to post his responses to the topic at hand. Strange, you'd think if Dr. Adams was so disagreeable Dr. Douglas would just seek other venues to express himself. But then again, I'm not a psychologist.

This is the best thing
I've read by Adams. It's neither hateful nor dishonest. Maybe a bit misleading regarding the "socialism" on campuses, but hopefully his writing will continue in this vein.

talent scout
Care to post odds on if Dr. Dipall posts on this column ? Or cabana boy Will?

I bet they will use at least five of the following words:

dishonest, judgemental, misinformed, gay marriage, reality, consequences, victim, protected, disingenuous, ill informed, misguided, rationalization. Adjunct.

Odds on my wager?

Everytime a liberal speaks
Conservatives should begin to yell and scream the speech offends them!

Call them racists and bigots for hurting our "feelings".

They will not be able to stand it, their very own putrid whining turned on them.

Go prepared for war though, as they are extremists and extremely violent when their own tactics are turned on them

Green Shoots?
D G, could this be little green shoots of political, economic, and social recovery for America?

About time Conservatives....
got a clue....The left-wing extremists can be halted in their red steps by their own tactics....Conservatives need to organize en masse...Simply utilize the courts or file discrimination charges and free speech/civil rights violations against the leftists!

MSU
The Pendulum is beginning its reversal.
