Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

After more than 50 years as a best-selling “men’s” magazine promoting “free love” –– a lifestyle of promiscuity and sexual exploitation of women –– Playboy has been displaced by the easy availability of pornography on the internet. At one time, supposedly over a quarter of college men were buying a monthly copy of Playboy with total sales of over seven million copies an issue in 1972. Now, sales have dwindled to barely three million copies per issue. The corporation is for sale for $300 million though experts claim that it is barely worth $100 million today. They’ve already lost around $13 million this year and shares have dropped to as low as $1.15. Clearly, the Playboy enterprise is crumbling even though the magazine is distributed by the giant Time Warner empire. Hugh Hefner, the 83-year-old founder of the Playboy, continues to be photographed in his silk pajamas and matching silk and satin robe surrounded by a bevy of young women in tiny bikinis, but it is obvious that his once-risque magazine is passé. After all, hooker attire is commonplace, “skin” is everywhere, and porn is easily accessible on the web.

*** Special Offer ***

How’s a magazine to shock anymore? Even the so-called Playboy philosophy is commonplace.

Well, Playboy just posted an on-line article designed for maximum shock impact. “So Right, It’s Wrong,” by Playboy.com writer Guy Cimbalo, identified 10 conservative women as ones that leftist men would be willing to “hate rape.” The article was not merely a simple text; it was a 10-part gallery of pictures and videos of the conservative women chosen for “hate rape.” Clearly, it was a feature long in planning and carefully constructed for maximum page views and media attention. In fact, they supposedly emailed conservative writers and bloggers to promote the article.

But they got more than they expected.

Shortly after the misogynistic feature was posted, Tommy Christopher, a liberal blogger for AOL, posted a critique of the Playboy article on his personal blog. He said that while the author of the Playboy article about raping Conservative women might think that his comments were “funny or edgy” none of the women consented to being identified and the article was “foul and creepy.”

Instead of being upset about the tasteless and crude feature article, AOL removed Christopher’s critique from their website. AOL claims that Christopher was one of several writers “downsized” and that his liberal use of “profane” language is the real reason his article was removed from the internet. Christopher claims that Politics Daily had never previously deleted any story in the history of the site and that he was fired within five minutes of hearing a proposal for a new story about the Playboy article. Media Lizzy, who runs a poll question on the website, was denied permission to run a poll question about the Playboy article.

After being overwhelmed by public protests, Playboy finally removed the offensive article, too.

The end result? There is more hot debate going on about whether Christopher was fired for exposing the crude feature than about Cimbalo’s list of “hot” Conservative women. Several blog sites have cached versions of the original feature complete with the videos and the crude, sick, demeaning and insulting remarks.

Let’s imagine that some relatively unknown Conservative blogger published a list of liberal women on a conservative blog like Townhall.com, using crude and vulgar language to denigrate Progressive women in the vilest of sexual innuendo? Can anyone deny the outrage that would ensue? Can anyone deny the charges of “hate speech” that would fill the internet?

This latest incident is just another in a long line of insulting articles filled with “hate speech” about Conservatives that Liberals routinely churn out, while screaming about the supposed prevalence of incendiary right-wing language. The reality is that those who talk the loudest about women’s rights and equality are frequently the ones who heap abuse on women and deny their equality in the workplace and respect in the public square.

Apparently the old sexism is still around; it is just dressed up in new types of put-downs. The men who aren’t man enough to take on the women of NOW are perfectly willing to denigrate Conservatives like the ladies from CWA.

TIME TO THROW OUT THE GARBAGE
The filthy little pig who wrote that article should have a hate-beating on a sidewalk along with the pervert Hefner.

THESE PEOPLE ARE THE SCUM OF THE EARTH AND THEY MAKE A FORTUNE BECUASE THEY ARE READ BY THE SCUM OF THE EARTH.

SCUM BEGETS SCUM.

WHEN ARE AMERCANS GOING TO WAKE UP AND SEE THEIR DAUGHTERS REFLECTED IN THESE PIG'S TALES?

ROWDY BOOTS

you want to be edgy? write about Mrs. O.
Recently, no doubt in an effort to appear edgy and relevant, the rapper "Eminem" featured in one of his videos an actress (stripper? porn star?) bearing a more than passing resemblance to Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Greg Gutfeld, host of Fox News's late night talk show "Redeye", remarked that, if Eminem really wanted to be edgy, he'd have found an actress to play Michelle Obama, dressed her in the same skimpy outfit, and directed her to writhe seductively. But no, Eminem is just a cheap little poseur with miniscule testes who went instead for the easy target that would make him popular with the same people in reference to whom Christopher Hitchens famously said last year, "'Bush is stupid' is the joke that stupid people laugh at."

Where's the media?
Until a prominent conservative comes out on a major media outlet (wherever, be it late-night, morning talk) and puts this story out into prominent public discourse it may as well have never happened.
Of course, all the ladies involved should be consulted first, but this should have already happened.(I'm sure all would agree to let whoever it was go with it)
Most people don't know about this.
And unless someone has the cajones to spill the beans about it in a clever fashion on a big stage no one will.
And to those who feel that such an act would be in bad taste and not worth descending to, you are part of the problem.
We need to shine a light.

Held liable?
SO if anything should happen to any of these women (and I surely don't wish that) SHould Playboy be held responsible? Since pro-life groups are responsible for Dr. Tiller's death, Rush is responsible for all of the racists in this country etc. etc.

Playboy hah
Yes, Playboy has long ago lost its shock value and its audience. That in desperation it would resort to the kind of behavior of Hustler's founder is no surprise. It is free market capitalism. That said it is hardly accurate to suggest that

Feminests are in bed with Playboy, they are not and never have been. In fact, on this issue conservatives and feminests share a common view that playboy and its more extreme cousins exploit women.

The playboy piece is tasteless.

Joel-De Oppresso LiberI
Joel your take on the differences between the sexes is too simplistic. What the feminist movement did was to show women that they had choices and that is a good thing. Not every women is cut out for your ideolized model of the perfect wife. Just as not every man wants to live his life the way you do. What was really a problem was the notion that you can have it all.

This made women in the first femininist generation feel guilty, no matter what choices that they made. But that is working itself out and this current generation has more realistic expectations.

What the womens movement did was open the door to new possibilities for both women and men and that is a good thing. Yes, men and women are different 1 million years of evolutionary pressure have made us different and forty years of women's sufferage is not going to change that. Viva la difference.

Ms. Shaw, you wrote:
"Let’s imagine that some relatively unknown Conservative blogger published a list of liberal women on a conservative blog like Townhall.com, using crude and vulgar language to denigrate Progressive women in the vilest of sexual innuendo?"

NEVER HAPPEN!! Have you seen liberal women?

Tod Kozeluh
Lexington, KY

Ooops, that should be...
Ms Crouse. My apologies.

Tod Kozeluh
Lexington, KY

Good points on hypocrisy...
... though I suspect Ms. Shaw Crouse's real beef is that she didn't make the list.

Hypocracy
I just looked up 'hypocracy' and found the picture of a donkey. The synonym for this is 'Liberal', the alternate is 'Democrat'. The racial baiting and playing of the race card while beating down any black or latino conservative appointed to high office is a typical thing to them and they feel safe doing it.

It is okay for Democrats to be hypocrits because the media will protect them. As long as they feel safe, they will step on anyone. They know no bounds.

Hey RW, don't you have ..
card check thing you're supposed to be doing for the UAW?

Tod Kozeluh
Lexington, KY

I'm outraged.
I'm outraged. Speechless, nearly.

Hollywood, media, leftwing blogs, leftwing students' groups, etc., have objectified conservatives and Republicans to the point that anything goes.

What's next on the "shock train?" I shudder to think.

Double Standards
abound! What lib's and lefties write is often pure crap. The author uses the term Progressive in describing lefties. I submit that lefties are anything BUT progressive, they are in fact regressive toward culture, country, faith, economic well beging, freedom, civil rights, honor, integrity, and self sacrifice, they are in fact regressive, they seek to take us into Marxism and to limit freedom. Phooey on all lefties.

I can't imagine ...
Just think of the list of Liberal women who might make such a list.

Hillary Clinton
Nancy Pelousy
Janet Reno
...

No wonder they concentrated on the Conservative women! The Liberal women who might make the list weren't in the sexy list!!

James
The "Ilooked it up" trope is a rather tired one. But it really does put a bit of pressure on you to spell the word correctly. It is not clear why people are supposed to be anything but confused if the dictionary defines the word "hypocracy" with the picture of a donkey. After all the word looks like it should mean small government.

Sad Commentary on Modern Society...
"But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
Matthew 5:28 (NIV)

It is sickening to see the level of perversion and profanity that is "commonplace" in society today. Where are our morals and ethics? We have abandoned God and therefore do not teach our children (who are now adults) how to act properly or respect others. Playboy and all the other skin mags, channels, and Internet sites are trash and should (rightfully) be shunned by all decent people.

"Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."
2 Timothy 2:22 (NIV)

PLAYBOY AND FEMINISTS

.....Have degraded women for more than 50 years ...

.....Playboy by treating women as sex objects ...

.....The Feminists by convincing women that they were the same as men ...

.....Women and men compliment each other as nature intended ...when nature is perverted only bad things happen .....COLOSSUS

MOCK THE HYPOCRITES !!!
.
It’s high time for conservatives - and all Americans, when you think about it - to mock these hypocritical Leftists...RELENTLESSLY.

...like waiting for the next Fem “demonstration” in D.C. and going there with a placard:

*** “Palin IS a c*nt" - OKAY! ***
*** “Hate f*ck conservative women" - OKAY! ***
*** “Satirical cartoon of Sotomayor? OUTRAGE!“ ***

"Lon" at 9:46
.
It's truly pathetic, the lengths to which Leftists go to REMAIN BLIND to their hypocrisy.

REFERENCE: "Lon"

It's not "rape" it's "sex"

WELL, NO, Sparky, "HATE F*CK" = RAPE

AND "HATE F*CK" IS THE TERM PLAYBOY USED.

Hypocrite...sexist, and a moron.

HOLLYWOOD WOMEN

.....In their memoirs both MAUREEN OHARA & GENE TIERNEY wrote that their happiest days were those when they were just being housewives ...

.....How many young starlets were chewed up, spit out, and destroyed by the HOLLYWOOD sex peddlers over the years? ...their name is legion .....COLOSSUS

Lon, I've read your posts ...
before, and I'm a bit puzzled this time around. I almost always disagree with your leftward slant, but I've mostly considered you sensible. Today, you don't fit in that category AT ALL. Please, with all due respect, explain to me what YOU think the term "HATE F*CK" refers to. It certainly doesn't sound like consentual sex to me.

Tod Kozeluh

Use, Misuse & Abuse
Public acknowledgement, our most important but difficult step.

NOW cleverly masking the:

Use of,
Use and Misuse of,
Use and misuse of, to abuse of Women.
And the abuse of the men and children who love them.

One would think that it should never pay to hate, discriminate or invigorate ill-will.

Just goes along with MTV outrages
and *first amend. rights* for pornography (Sup. Ct. 1972), which comes from the Greek *pornos,* who were the cheapest and dirtiest prostitutes at a time when there was no religious objection to selling one's self.

I wouldn't protest to Playboy, which is futile, but writing AOL or dropping AOL as a web search or email might be effective. Even lib. twits respond to monetary penalties.

If all the 62,000,000 who did not vote for King Elect O protested all at once, even the NYSlimes might have to pay attention. On the bright side, maybe the Boston Globe is dead, if the union did not accept a downsizing deal. One more lib. krap dispenser bites the dust.

FROG
Please, with all due respect, explain to me what YOU think the term "HATE F*CK" refers to. It certainly doesn't sound like consentual sex to me...

So if he had said "consentual" in his article then you would be ok?

Lon gets outed again
He likes to assume the smooth talker role and seeks out the slightest technicality he can find to undermine the main point of the article, all the while ignoring it.

It's not that he's not intellectual; it's just that he's dishonestly so.

Keith and the ...
strawman. If...then...maybe...

I love it when libbies call righ wingers "prudes". They are apparently unaware that every poll ever taken shows that conservatives have sex more often, and enjoy it more, then so called sexually liberated.

Keep livin' in your dream state, Keith. At least you can delude yourself into thinking that you're right. And maybe even happy?

Tod Kozeluh
Lexington, KY

The closer says it all.
"The men who aren’t man enough to take on the women of NOW are perfectly willing to denigrate Conservatives like the ladies from CWA."

A nice way of saying most leftist men are so p***y-whipped they have to take out their anger on real women.

Truth hurts, huh?

My comments on Leftits hypocracy
regarding Megan Fox's comments

"Megan Fox is #1 on the Playboy's, "Leftist I'd like to Hate-f##k." Wait . . . I'm sorry, Playboy doesn't make that list because Leftist are such loving, caring, compassionate, kind, sweet people who never say a mean thing about anyone. Therefore, we can't be offended by Megan Fox's comments stating that she would like to see all Americans with traditional values exterminated. She means well and for Leftist that is the only thing that matters. And since they "mean well" anyone who opposes their draconian, oppressive, totalitarian positions and programs must be bad people. They do not care that EVERY SINGLE TIME Leftist policies are applied, failure and misery for millions follows."

Playboy's Political Devolution
I read Playboy for a time when I was young. (Yes, the articles, too!) We're talking the late Carter & Reagan years. Back then, IIRC, Playboy's political & general social slant tended to be libertarian & slightly anarchistic, altho they did have an ongoing anti-Ed Meese campaign for reasons obvious to anyone who remembers those days.

I had occasion to look at a recent issue or 2 & saw that it seemed to be much more Demsymp & establishment-leftist these days. GWB & every policy assoc'd with him was constantly trashed. Even "low" taxes was criticized, a decidedly non-libertarian stance!

I recall a silly bring-on-the-violins article about poor widdle Natalie "Natalie Who?" Maines & the Dixie Chicks who had it so rough because their former fan base had walked out on them over Natalie's stupid snippy mouthing-off at a concert in Europe. They seemed to seriously expect their former labels & record outlets should carry them in spite of no actual sales, just to flip off those hayseed right-wingers. The old Playboy, I think, would have defended the right of the fans to, like, not buy records by someone who pointedly po'd them.

What astounds me here is that a "liberal" writer had the consistent principles to call them out on the double standard & abhorrent premise.

Besides, let's face it, how many prominent "progressive" women would even inspire such thoughts among those base & crude enough to think & express them?

FROG
strawman. If...then...maybe...

Why is your "strawman" any different than mine. You assume that if it's a hate F**K then it must be rape. So I will give it another try. If he had said "F**K the hate out of" would you be more receptive?

NOW hypocrisy
Where was NOW during all of this? Why weren't they decrying this article? Oh yeah because they are only interested in certain womens' rights.

Another waste of webspace by Janice
1) Janice described Playboy's activity as "sexual exploitation of women". Ohhh bull! The women get paid handsomely for their time. I am so sick of everything being labeled as exploiting women even when they make a free choice and benefit. The word 'exploitation' has lost its meaning.

2) The article Janice is complaining about did not talk about "hate rape". Janice, you are a lot like a feminist in that you freely distort things to make your point.

Janice is a discredit to conservatives, women, and feminists! Now that is an accomplishment!

Don't Tread On Me
is right. Playboy had relevance once upon a time. And quality writing. I was a subscriber for fifteen years or so, until the mid-90's. I've only read one edition in the last five years, and it was terrible; simplistic, flat, and insignificant in every respect (even the babes were more plastic than I remembered). Not worth the paper it was printed on.

But, on the issue of what is meant by "hate f**k", I take it not as rape, but as in "I hate that chick, but I'd love to..." Similar to what many of us would also describe as a "revenge f**k."

The right has all the beautiful women …
… which the left acknowledges, however vilely and reprehensively (that is, characteristically) it expresses that.

That's what this pitiful excuse for trash of a Playboy "piece" is all about.

The left, meanwhile, has all the spineless "men" -- which the right acknowledges.

That's all anyone needs to know.

More anti-sex b.s.
Playboy's "crumbling" empire? In your dreams, Janet.

So-called experts have been predicting Hef's demise since his magazine first rolled off the presses in 1953. Playboy will prevail, even if online.

As for the nonsense that the magazine exploits women -- good grief, Charlie Brown. Why retrofit that standard Left-feminist trope for conservative ends? Nobody forced any of these women to pose. And no woman, let alone man, has ever been destroyed by Playboy. Yes, I am a subscriber.

P.S. Rowdy: There's a place for you with the Taliban, after all. An "honor beating" never hurt anyone, right?

Yawn, is anyone really surprised...
Wow - yet another left-wing paper-member (and one rapidly declining towards obselecence at that) of the MSM takes a stab at the right/conservatives.

Someone wake me up when something newsworthy actually happens. This is no surprise.

The've been doing it for years folks, starting most notably with the whole group-heavy-breathing-sessions going on before and during the Clinton administration, and taken to new heights (lows?) altogether with our supposed MESSiah-in-chief. Each and every bowel movement had by the HNIC or his wife or daughters is covered as if Moses himself was about to deliver the tablets containing the 10 commandments.

Furthermore, an "assignment" - next time one of you watches TV or listens to the radio, take special note to how many features and how many commercials start their messages with a mention of the economy. Painfully obvious as the economic turndown is (we're ALL feeling it for God's sake!)...if I had a nickel for every story or commercial that begins with some variation of "during these difficult times" or "everyone needs a stimulus", I'd be a very rich man.

Point being - they make a special note to alert us to the economy (like we don't know what's going on) so we continue to drink the Osama Kool Aid and agree to go along with his bankrupting programs. This is no coincidence in my book folks.

The left's got all the spineless 'men'
Right?

Consider: That mountain of masculinity, Guy Cimbalo, calls for raping our women. As if he had anything to rape them with.

But que macho! Sissy Cimbalo!

And that manly man, Perez Hilton, beat up on Carrie Prejean something, um, fierce. He near to scratched her eyes out, didn't he?

Hail, Perez, you mighty wussy!

How about that storehouse of virility, Chris Matthews: Didn't he beat up on Michele Malkin? And this was before he got that tingle all up and down his leg over his boy-crush Obama.

Don't forget your purse, Chris!

That ton of testosterone, Keith Olbermann, got into quite the hair-pulling match with Ann Coulter, remember?

Careful with all that manly stuff, Keithy!

Yep, our girls on the right are not only lovelier than any hag fishwife on the left, they are also braver and stronger than any nancy boy on the left.

THE SOLUTION FOR THIS MADNESS
I am tired of many conservatives allowing this type of behavior and attacks from the left to go without a response. All too often we hear the nonsense from our side of "we can't stoop down to their level." I say why not. Why haven't we ridiculed Joe Biden's daughter - the Coke-head? We allowed them to bury the story. Meanwhile, they continue to attack the Palins.

What has playing nice gotten us? We still get called the same names no matter how nice we are to the left.

That said, I propose the following to all the conservative bloggers: When lib media set out to destroy a person, I say we set out to destroy the personal life of the so-called reporter. We should get all the dirt on this POS that wrote this article for Playboy. Hire a PI, dig into his personal records, whatever, and DESTROY him. I guarantee that after doing this a few times, these lib reporters will think twice. Let's dig into the personal life of Keith Overbite and all the others. I am tired of playing by the rules while the other side plays by no rules.

As they said in the movie The Untouchables, "They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue."

Club_a_Liberal
I agree. I've said for a long time, that in order to defeat this, you've got to be willing to step down off the sidewalk and fight them in the gutter where they live. What makes us different is we know to get back on the sidewalk.

Bernie Goldberg titled a book that says it best 'Crazies to Left of Me and Wimps to the Right.

Becoming Immune to the Filth
As this society rockets along to perdition, we are becoming inured to garbage. With every piece of crap that we enable without comment, we become increasingly insensitive to the viruses that will ultimately destroy us.
We deserve what we get!

Passe Playboy
I stopped looking at Playboy 15 years ago. I used to get it just for the pictures (I'll admit it), but after I "matured" (i.e. hormones stopped raging) and actually started to read the articles, I found most of it to be juvenile, retread liberalism that usually made me close the magazine and toss it on the recycling pile with a bored sigh.

If I recall, it got up to like $5 and issue when I called it quits. Each issue was mostly advertisements, with about maybe 15-20 pages of nudies, and the rest was, well, not worth $5. And the centerfolds all started to look the same...blonde, fake breasts, airbrushed pics, same poses and settings used since the 50's. The final straw for me was when they put portions of Al Franken's book about Limbaugh in the magazine, and declared how proud they were to bring such a side-splitting, hilarious story to its readers. I read what appeared to be something written by a 13 year old with an adolescent revenge fantasy against Republicans. It wasn't funny, or even interesting, it was just a poorly written piece of garbage. This is what the vaunted Playboy editorial staff was proud to bring its readers? Ummmm, thanks but no thanks!

Yeah, that was my last Playboy...I haven’t missed it one bit.

BOOT THEM IN THEIR BACK POCKETS
Find out who buys ad space to this garbage and go after them! If their ads are running in Playboy they are promoting the content. Voice your outrage at the advertisers, give it a shake and see what falls out of the S#!t tree and into the sewer!

America has a B.O. problem, plant a libtard purify the air!

Better More Illuminating Discussion
Yeah, I gotta admit: it sure sounds like a stupid idea for a story. But there are some interesting takes on the topic of "hate f*&^" which is not the same thing as rape. On its face, it seems like a distinction without a difference; but the more I think about it, as jejeune as the topic seems, there is a distinct difference between the two. It definitely is not rape.

Expect Bill O the Clown to go on and on about it endlessly as a cheap excuse to delve into his favorite prurient topic.

Here's where I found a much more interesting discussion: http://blogs.citypages.com/blotter/2009/06/fox_news_report .php

Very illuminating, indeed.
It seems since Obama has come to "power" there is less tolerance, compassion, more hate mongering towards anyone that thinks differently than the left. Rape seems to be funny to the left wingers. Attack women, abort children, These people are ugly, nasty, hateful and disgusting; Obama voters all.

You're kidding, Right?
I can't think of anything more 'conservative' than Playboy when it comes to the presentation of women. If ever there was a magazine dedicated to the traditional values of traditional men, this is definitely it!

Besides, unless I didn't read this column correctly, it was a LIBERAL blogger who first denounced the loathsome 'hate rape' list in the first place.

Also, never, ever, ever have I seen any liberal writer/pundit/intellectual/politician who has expressed admiration for or agreement with what Playboy stands for. I have never found a feminist who loves the sexual exploitation of Playboy's photo spreads.

So, conservatives, a little bit of homework: Please find me some evidence that liberals support Playboy. If you can't, Shut the F... up

Femininity, Feminism and Feminazis
Femininity is when a female understands and appreciates her own gender difference and understands how these strengths will help her as she goes through life, not needing to get by through neutering and destroying masculinity

Feminism....good luck trying to figure out what it means these days since it was hijacked by

Feminazis - who think that they deserve reparation for slights done to earlier generations of women and for imagined slights done to earlier, to present and to future women; women who also still believe that they deserve prince charming or deserve to castrate prince charming if he doesn't find them appealing.

Haha
The progressive and globalist media is collapsing. The New York Times, MSNBC, Playboy (yes I would catagorize it as such because it expoits women and mens's sinful nature for profit - how could a globalist not like it)...

Meanwhile shows like Andrew Nepolitano's Freedom Watch, Glenn Beck's show, and even Alex Jones - who looks more sane every day since much of what he's been saying has come true (infowars.com) are growing.

Frog Ed Wallis and Chuck
I am not surprised that the three of you are not familiar with the term. I had not seen it before either. I guess I am not surprised either that for the three of you your ignorance gives you an odd sense of confidence. In general not knowing what you are talking about is not the idea time to try to act superior. You wind up looking like idiots.

From the context (and confirmed by one site while I was trying to find the original article to see how fairly it is being represented only to find out it is now unavailable with) the phrase means having sex with someone who one finds sexy but does not like as a person.

That is not vaguely the same thing as rape.

And does none of you really see the problem with putting quotes around something that is not a quote? So it is understandable that you do not understand the phrase. It reflects poorly on you that you therefore seem to think it makes sense to decide based on nothing that it must mean want you want it to mean.

When you don't know what you are talking about there are two reasonable approaches to take. One is to not comment. The other is to ask for information that might help you learn. Insisting on your ignorance is not an equivalent third choice.

JMO51 & James
JMO51: We have no such practices in the churches I know. I recognized the woman who would become my wife long before she knew I would her husband! No pressure, no sales pitches, The LORD knew our hearts and drew us together when the time was right! She approached me about the subject of having children (we were in our early thirties!) I told her I wouldn't push her . . . it was her decision. She said yes(her decision.) We have two young men, ages eighteen and twenty-one. August thirty-first will be our twenty-fourth anniversary.

James: I don't know about your definitions for "hypocrisy" Here are some from Merriam's: the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense; dissimulation; false virtue;posturing; empty talk; insincerity; deceit; dishonesty; Is that enough? Any of these sound for a liberal? I've got more. You decide!

Who Called Hilary Clinton A B*tch?
Actually, I have no doubt that some conservative commentators have made the kind of incendiary remarks towards liberal women. What about all those people who hate Jane Fonda's guts? Calling her Hanoi Jane, accusing her of commiting treason? What about that John McCain rally where he allowed the audience members call her a b*tch or other incendiary remarks?

I have news for you: it happens on both sides, and no side is exclusively without fault. And don't start with this moral equivalence B.S. because you know it's the truth.

The7Sticks
"Who Called Hilary Clinton A B*tch?"

The answer is.... a guy named Bill!

You’re actually unashamed to say something that chin-droppingly stupid, and in public?

Wow.

The kind of sexual filthiness those magazines peddle is a legacy of you libertine libbies. You started that in the late '50s and the '60s, and you've stayed in the septic tank ever since.

This is YOUR baby -- ugly and dopey as it is. YOU conceived and brought it forth, YOU own it, and YOU will have to bring it home from the ward.

Fellow conservatives, I confess: I have not yet figured any of these libbie-loons out.

What is it? Are they ice-hearted liars, or just brain-dead? Both, maybe?

Oh, and Gestell, as for the “evidence” of libbie support of Playboy you demanded — two words: Hugh Hefner.

No champion of Barry Goldwater there.

You are the one who needs to shut up. Maggot.

David S
"What is it? Are they ice-hearted liars, or just brain-dead? Both, maybe? "

It's a spirit, Dave.

Lon
As I said, you "seek out the slightest technicality" to undermine.

I never said you were wrong.

Chuck, you are right:
"It's a spirit, Dave."

-- Thanks for reminding me.

Hey, Lon the Loon, listen up.
Here is what you wrote:
"… [T]he phrase means having sex with someone who one finds sexy but does not like as a person.
That is not vaguely the same thing as rape."

-- No, huh?

When some filthy vermin rapes any woman, he evidently finds her at least "sexy" enough to be willing to do her that kind of harm.

And I would venture further to say that the bloodworm perpetrating that violence could not be said to "like" his victim very much "as a person."

How do you then say that this hate-**** imbecility "is not vaguely the same thing as rape"?

It is exactly the same thing -- no more, no less, no different. And no joke.

Intelligent, sane, rational people understand this. Men who are worthy of the name recognize it and are incensed, inflamed and infuriated at the least suggestion otherwise.

True men know that rape, like every form of brutality against the defenseless by the powerful, is anathema, so they do not toy with terms or such mess.

My own attitudes toward these pigs who are treating this stuff as sport are decidedly unfriendly. Decidedly.

No joke.

When I tried to read this earlier today
internet explorer kept blocking the site. All other sites worked perfectly. At first just this article was blocked, but as I continued to try and get back to it Townhall was blocked, too. I really have to wonder what's going on. Is this politically correct censorship?

Greg
No...it is your IE acting stupid as IE usually does.

reply to David S
Your argumentative brilliance is amazing. What a way with words! What debating skills! I guess one of your main points is that Hugh Hefner...who created and runs Playboy...gasp...cue drum roll...actually supports the things he promotes....I mean, Bill Buckley couldn't have put it better.

Are you seriously trying to persuade the ever-gullible TH readers that conservative men pay no attention to Playboy, or other magazines like it? Do you really believe that we liberals sit around and drool over the Playboy centerfold? My guess is that you'd find a much bigger audience for that among right-wing voters. Plus, you cannot offer me examples of big-time liberal public figures who love Playboy.

Kendra's face is becoming horsey
Hefner's former girlfriend, Kendra, used to be super cute. But in the past year her face is taking on a horse look. Too bad for her. She really lost it. Maybe Mr. Ed will hire her now.

Hello, Gestell,
You write:
"Your argumentative brilliance is amazing."

-- Thanks. I try.

Your own argumentation leaves a lot to be desired, though.

I guess one of YOUR main points is that Hefner, a libbie, DOES "promote" these things, but he may NOT in fact "support" them. Awe-inspiring.

You wanted a lib who champions this sort of "free expression." I gave you one. In plain sight, too.

You charge that the "traditional values" of "traditional men" form the market for that naked-bimbo stuff. Want to spell out for us a couple of those "traditional" values?

How about some of those "traditional" men? Names?

You write:
"[N]ever, ever, ever have I seen any liberal writer/pundit/intellectual/politician who has expressed admiration for or agreement with what Playboy stands for."

-- No, huh?

Seen any libbie who ever expressed clear condemnation or vigorous objection to whatever it is Playboy "stands for"? That's what separates the men from the boys, nephew. Anything less is BS.

And what DOES Playboy "stand for," scholar?

It's the libbies who've poisoned our culture with their don't-judge, there's-no-real-right-or-wrong, whatever-floats-your-boat, if-it-feels-good-do-it, just-don't-hurt-anybody serpent oil, making the Playboy fool-osophy the reigning Western "value" system since the late '50s.

We traditional-values proponents have no use for that dung. We'd be overjoyed to see it vanish -- along with all of you.

You write:
“Do you really believe that we liberals sit around and drool over the Playboy centerfold?”

-- No. You went way past that long ago. Even Mapplethorpe is too tame for you now.

Chuck and David S
The rape/consensual is not a technicality. That you want to make it one shows something very twisted, although maybe just about the lengths you will go to win an argument on which you have no serious position to stand on.

Come off it, Lon
You say "the rape/consensual is not a technicality."

No? Then what is it?

And what is a "rape/consensual" by the way? Please start posting with some clarity.

Are you calling me "very twisted" because I object to a depraved expression that darkly hints at and minimizes the seriousness of rape?

So I'm at fault? Women don't have enough problems without being toyed with as potential rape victims? And the juxtaposition of hate alongside sex -- that doesn't carry implications of violent, coerced sexual abuse (ie, rape)?

Tell me again that I'm twisted.

I'm aware that this is a highly feministic and feminized society, but I have no intention of changing or of allowing myself to be changed. My own values dictate and demand that men protect women. I consider that an act and attitude of respect for women, though I am motivated by my own ideas of "gender" roles.

I don't care WHO doesn't like it -- male, female or undecided.

Are you calling your own adolescent simperings here an "argument"? How so?

You say Chuck and I "have no serious position to stand on." Well, what is your particular dog in this fight, anyhow?

Do you yourself have a position? What exactly would that be? And do you seriously expect that I will take your egoist vanities seriously?

The only reason I bother with your posts at all is that replying to your appalling postmodernist imbecilities furnishes an opportunity to encourage others.

I confess that I am very much playing to an audience here. My posts are not meant for you, Lon. They are meant for those who are reading these threads -- in the hope that I can assist and serve them as they deal with the distracting plague of time-wasting trollie insects like you.
