Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson issued a fundraising email in support of fellow candidate Mike Gravel on Sunday.

The self-help guru and writer sent out a mass email asking her supporters to consider donating $1 to the Gravel campaign to get him on the debate stage.

“[D]iverse and provocative voices like Gravel’s are so important to move the debates and conversation about our nation’s peace and prosperity forward,” Williamson said in the email. “That’s why today I’m using this platform, granted to me by you, to ask for your help.”

Mike Gravel is a former U.S. Senator from Alaska who served from 1969 to 1981. Best known for putting the Pentagon Papers in the public record, he is by far the most progressive candidate in the 2020 Democratic primary. Gravel advocates for pulling out of all wars, abolishing the electoral college and the Senate, maintaining an open border immigration policy, and establishing the Green New Deal endorsed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

Gravel is 10,000 donors away from qualifying for the next Democratic debate in July.

Williamson had nothing but praise for her fellow contender in the email.

“Democracy is, by definition, for the people and by the people. Democracy thrives when brave men like Mike Gravel risk their careers to do what’s just and right,” she wrote.

Gravel’s campaign made headlines after it was revealed it's run by teenagers. The former senator seems like he is not running a serious presidential bid for The White House, as he intends to drop out of the race and endorse the most progressive candidate.

The goal of Gravel's campaign was to appear in the debates and move the dialogue further left.
