Profile in Hypocrisy: Democrats' Faux Praise of Romney

AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite

After his vote to convict President Trump on the “abuse of power” impeachment article, Democrats in both chambers are praising Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT).

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) joined this trend at her presser Thursday morning for his “courage.”

Anyone who remembers the 2012 general election knows that this admiration of Sen. Romney from Democrats is completely disingenuous. Democrats slandered then-candidate Romney during his bid for the White House over and over again, painting Romney as an evil villain who would take away your healthcare and kill your grandparents.

Sen. Romney’s vote to convict was not unexpected and has received a ton of backlash from conservatives. While his vote can be debated, Democrats’ hypocrisy is clear. Their sudden admiration of Sen. Romney is pure, partisan rancor, on account of their utter disdain for President Trump.
