Intrigue: "Major" Huckabee Announcement Coming Tomorrow; Plus: Mitch/Condi 2012?

Huckabee for President?  We'll know soon enough, apparently:

Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, will announce on Saturday whether he will run for president, the producer of his show on the Fox News Channel said Friday.

“Governor Huckabee will announce tomorrow night on his program whether or not he intends to explore a presidential bid,” Woody Fraser, the executive producer of “Huckabee” said in a statement. “He has not told anyone at FOX News Channel his decision.

Senior political aides to Mr. Huckabee also said Friday they do not know what he will decide, raising suspicions that Mr. Huckabee will take a pass on another campaign.

Some of Huck's confidants seem to think it's a no-go:

Others in Huckabee’s broader political orbit suggested that the planned announcement didn’t bode well for those who want him to run — even as they noted that what he would actually say was a closely guarded secret.

“I cannot imagine it’s an, ‘I’m running for president’ announcement,”said former South Carolina governor David Beasley, a prominent Huckabee supporter in 2008. “I hope I’m wrong. But I don’t think so.”

Meanwhile, Mitch Daniels keeps toying with us.  Not only did his wife deliver a public speech last night in Indianapolis (for why that's significant, follow the link), he also told a group of college-aged supporters that he'd consider picking Condi Rice has his running mate -- hypothetically, of course:

Daniels accepted an invitation from those 55 students to meet at a spacious bar several blocks away after the event; he sipped Woodford Reserve bourbon as he asked them about their own lives and families. In return, they asked him who he might like to tap as his vice presidential nominee if he runs.

Hypothetically, he told them, he'd like to pick Condoleezza Rice.

Also, check out this video tribute to Daniels' accomplishments being touted by...Mitch Daniels.  This seems like an awful lot of chest thumping for a term-limited Governor with no higher political ambitions, doesn't it?  The events of the last 24 hours really lead me to believe Daniels is gearing up for a run.  Either that, or he's coordinated a clever little campaign of misdirection:
