Politico's Party-Pooper

Last night, I attended the Politico's party.  (In case you don't know, the Politico is the new ultra-hip publication/website for anyone interested in politics.)

If you're interested in hearing about all the cool people who attended this very nice and trendy event, Rob Bluey has recounted that

Now, for the bad stuff ...

When we tried to leave (I left fairly early -- at like 8 PM), our coats had been thrown on the ground.  But it wasn't just our coats on the ground -- there were literally three feet of coats on the ground.  I'm only out a scarf.  But we spent about 20 minutes digging through coats, hats, flip-flops (believe it or not), deodorant (believe it or not), and sundry items.  People were even standing on laptop cases which had probably been neatly left by the coats earlier in the night ...

At one point a nice lady from Politico started trying to help us dig through the coats and stuff.  I assume she did this because:

1. She was the event planner and is probably now fired...

2.  She was a very nice lady who genuinely cared...

3.  She was trying to avoid bad press or a potential riot...

I left early, so I have no idea the kind of melee that may have ensued after I left.  I can only assume that since I didn't see anything in the WaPost this morning, it didn't turn ugly.

Again, the Politico is a great paper and website.  I love em.  The party was a blast.  My only advice is to make sure that 1. Someone is working the door, and 2. You have a coat check.

But if my price of admission were losing a scarf I would probably still have gone (but I would have drank and eaten a lot more!)
